Or save 10-15 grand and get an Outback? by 4mercoachrick on Mon Jan 17 09:35:54 PST 2011

OK, we've blown through a few vehicles in the past half-dozen years...'04 V70, C70, '06 RX 330, "07 XC70 and currently have the '08 C70 and '10 XC60 AWD T6. I've wondered if something happened to the XC, would we consider the significant price difference and take a look at a completely loaded Outback 3.6? It doesn't have all the bells and whistles(I could to without 'lane change', BLIS, adaptive cruise and others--now that we've seen what they can/can't do); but, to save 25% of the vehicle price, are folks even considering this comparison? It's not quite apples and oranges, more like Granny Smith vs Golden Delicious, I reckon. Hmmmm....

Re: 2011 XC60 OSD price? [iamsony] by 4mercoachrick on Sun Jan 16 16:10:40 PST 2011

Well done! Enjoy your new ride. It 'pained' me to pay sticker(but we got such a good deal on the XC70 we traded that I convinced myself that it was OK to be one of the very first to own the XC60). Of course, the fact that we have over 30K miles already doesn't bode well for a high trade-in value any time soon. We could be 34K miles by the two-year anniversary of our purchase. By contrast, our '08 C70 only has 25K miles after 39 months--something about the 100+ degree weather in Texas makes it easy to leave the 'vert in the garage! If I may ask, are you financing? Any killer deals out there? Looks like PenFed(who carries the note on our XC) has 2.99% going. Volvo couldn't come close when we purchased in Mar '09.

Price seems OK, and the XC60 is far superior to the RX350. Suggest you drive both, back to back.

Re: sales price [volvogirl2] by hollywood53 on Wed Dec 16 09:29:12 PST 2009

Volvogirl I am assuming it is 6 cyl, I am retired GM from volvo, the programs are horrendous, I just turned in two cars and after 35 years this is the first time there will not be a Volvo in my driveway. I would definetly extend the lease for the 2 months contact me, some things I just cant post in a public forum somethingnew53 yahoo here is a copy of what I posted in the Honda pilot forum No I do not charge a fee, sometimes you just have to give back and be thankful for what you have. I do this for local people that need some help or dont like the whole process, and in todays economic times if I can save people a couple of dollars a month it is reward enough. I am not looking to help those whos only interest is to beat a dealer over the head but to help those that need to be educated about there deal. I have helped numerous people on the volvo xc90 and xc 60 boards already as to availabilty and programs, have provided MF, residuals, rebates and incentives etc. Coming from an industry that sometimes doesnt have the best reputaion there are dealers that do business the right way and those that take advantage of people. If I see someone posting a deal that I feel is not equitable, I will let them know and try to help, keep in mind that like everything else in life it must be balanced. Deals can tilt both ways sometimes a little to the dealer sometimes a little to the consumer and that is OK but it should never be totally tilted in either direction, if they all tilted in the consumers benefit than someday that dealer may not be there to provide service.
