verdi942, Why it's illegal for an insurance carrier to sell GAP coverage in NY is a mystery to me. It just doesn't make any sense. I would press further. Where does it say that it's illegal? Perhaps it's illegal for particular carriers (e.g., direct underwriting companies) to sell GAP for some unknown reason but, for other's, it's perfectly legal. I'd examine the NY Code of Regulations and, then, call the NY Department of Insurance. You may want to check out these links... http://www.ins.state.ny.us/ogco2008/rg080320.htm http://www.01insurance.com/learn/gap-coverage-new-york-auto-insurance.html These links suggest to me that it's not illegal to sell GAP in NY. Perhaps the good 'ole state of NY should make it illegal for Toyota, and others, to overcharge for GAP coverage. Assuming Toyota self insures their residuals, I'm betting that if the NY Insurance Commission required Toyota to file a statistically valid cost study, they would quickly discover that $7 per month for GAP is grossly usurious. Think about it... $84 per year in exchange for the risk of covering the amount by which the lease balance exceeds the value (ACV) of the vehicle in the event that the vehicle is totaled or stolen but never recovered. That is over reaching by any stretch. But, that's life in America the Great! It's all about money and GREED! John The Autoleasegeek

Re: GAP insurance [thebenz] by lasvegasrph on Sun Sep 26 14:08:22 PDT 2010

thebenz- GAP insurance is usually recommended during the the first 18-24 months on a lease. After that, you won't really need it (according to my insurance agent). I use The Hartford and Traveller's for my HOME/AUTOS and they are GREAT! The GAP ins was $1.50/mo. thru The Hartford on my 2011 Camry SE. **Not to mention, both these companies were MUCH less on premiums. NEVER, EVER buy GAP ins thru the dealer. I learned this many years ago when leasing was first popular, and since then, I just add GAP ins for 2yrs then drop it. **My dealer wanted $12/mo for GAP ins.

BEST PRICE IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA BY FAR by winecounrty on Sun Sep 05 23:56:35 PDT 2010

If you live in the San Francisco Bay area. Run don't walk to Dublin Toyota.. There pricing is extremely aggressive. Dealt with the internet dept thru TruCAR. Amazing transaction. Price was so good I was asked not to publish in public forum, contact Hash.B, use TRUCAR for connection for pricing, this process cost's you nothing. I have an associate that owns a Toyota dealership and he could not meet this price, No kidding On top of the price the transaction was plain, simple and the price which was quoted was honored. NO BRAIN DAMAGE. Hope this helps anyone looking for a deal on TOYOTA'S.. PS THIS DEALER IS HUGE. LOT'S OF INVENTORY :) :) :) I DO NOT HAVE ANY AFFILIATION WITH THIS DEALERSHIP OTHER THAN MAKING MY PURCHASE TONIGHT.

15.1K OTD BILL KIDDS IN TIMONIUM, MD by gbauman on Sun Jul 25 07:06:48 PDT 2010

Just bought a Corolla LE with power package, doors, windows, keyless entry, cruise control. Purchased it at Bill Kidds in Timonium, Maryland. Everything was done by email and the paperwork was waiting for me when I got to the dealer. My salesman was very low key, no pressure, no add-ons. Even the person who tries to sell lojack etc was told I didn't want anything and only took 3 minutes of our time. All in all a wonderful experience. This was the third car I purchased solely by email and it was the best experience yet. Cost 13,966 Documentation 95 Tax (6%) 843 Title 202 TOTAL 15,106
