Re: Pricing on 1LT [greatlakesjr] by jfritsch on Sun Mar 29 07:53:53 PDT 2009

Not much. In southern ohio here the 22000 msrp malibu has been advertised for $14000 (with 2k lessee rebate) for several months. Most of the 08 vehicles like the malibu, (mazda6,fusion,Impala etc) have a trade in value of 10000 (Impala)-$13000. This is what the 09 malibu would be worth in 12 months. Perhaps a $24000 msrp malibu would be worth $14000 or so, under normal conditions. With the worst car sales in a decade, and the issue of GM bankruptcy/warrantees (an issue of when not if), $14000 would be a ok price on an 09 22k malibu for ALL purchasers, (not just lease turn-ins). Many of the deals being reported are nothing to write home about, compared to previous years. The tax dollars coming from the govt are probably keeping the prices up, (for Chrysler and GM) the dealers not having to dump stock to raise cash. The imports are benefiting a bit from the domestics troubles, and they are more flexible on production (actually able to make a large profit on cars in good times) Good luck --jjf I'm kind of "kicking the tires" these days regarding a new car, it would be a third car without replacing one of ours. If I find a deal I can't refuse, I might bite but I don't necessarily NEED one at this time. Wasn't really looking domestic but I love the new Malibu and what is being said about it so I'm willing to give them a chance. E-mailed a dealer and got a quote on a 1LT w/body side moldings, 6-speed tranny, and the Power Convenience package. Got a price back OTD of 22,353 which includes sales tax, all rebates, etc, etc. Live in Michigan (6%). Doesn't sound like much of a deal for me but perhaps I'm wrong. I won't bite at that price regardless but curious to hear opinions on this deal. Thanks!

Got a great deal on an Aveo....twice! by VwEnthusiast on Sat Feb 07 21:54:14 PST 2009

I just purchased my second Chevy Aveo 5-door SVM from Mike Anderson Chevrolet in Merrillville, IN. They advertise the car for $9,890 and minus our $3,000 in GM Card savings + TTL, we paid $7,800 in the end. It has the auxilary jack for the iPod and it's sport red (which is our favorite color). The first Aveo we bought, we got incredibly lucky and bought it for $6,000 with only $500 in GM card money. Some crazy Chicago dealer was advertising the basic Aveo for $6,000, of course when we went there they said it was sold and all this other nonsense. Once they heard we were going to sue them, they caved but by this time we found Mike Anderson who agreed to match the Chicago price. We absolutely love both of our Aveos. The first one has over 82k on it and has never been in the shop for more than a day (only for wear and tear items like brakes). It is such a good car, it averages 35 mpg if we drive it nice and not like a race car driver. We get so many compliments on them especially our new 2009 Sport Red Aveo which is just stunning. Our family has never bought two of the same car so it is such a first to do this. We plan on buying another Aveo next year with $4,000 in GM card money. Compared to the Yaris, Fit, Scion, and other comparable cars, this is such a better deal. Why pay $15-20k for those cars when the Aveo is so much better. I would not recommend anyone buying the overpriced Aveos that top off at $18k, spend that money elsewhere like on a full size sedan. The basic Aveos are great for city driving and just using them when you need to run errands. I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants something that is fun, affordable, and reliable.

Tahoe hybrid employee pricing by schultsj on Fri Aug 29 05:30:42 PDT 2008

We just bought a 2008 Tahoe hybrid, 2wd, rear dvd for 40980. This price includes employee pricing, 5k rebate plus additional 1k off . It does not include trade or TTL. The drive to Chandler Chevy in Madison, IN was worth it. We feel this is an outstanding deal considering one month ago it may have been 12k more.
