Buying a car from a Mazda Car Dealer
We bought a silver m3i touring yesterday from Blaine MacIntosh at Murray Mazda in Gresham, OR. Price - $15,450 cash before license, registration and processing fee and after $500 loyalty rebate. Experience - relatively painless.
Is that $32,500 out the door? OR is it that price plus tax, tag, fees??? If it's OTD for that price, that's a good deal. If we're talking pre-tax, I priced it over at TrueCar.com for $30,660 in the Philly, PA area.
I will stand firm and submit this is deceptive. There is no "0%" if there are 2 prices. Then I guess you think every manufacturer is deceptive when they offer a special finance rate OR a cash incentive. You get a choice on what you want to do. Intelligent shoppers will do the math and see which incentive makes the car cheaper for them. I would assume most of us have basic math skills to figure that out. Bottom line, there is no deception. Opinions are not to be misconstrued as facts.
This is in Portland, OR. I will also qualify for a $500 Mazda loyalty discount (bought a Mazda 3 last year). Thanks for the heads up regarding the fees. Will watch out for it when I go in to finalize today or tomorrow.
Look at the CX 9 info here on edmunds and click on incentives when you bring up the screen. You will see wording like this "Dealer engagement program ($2,000.00) NOT combineable with captive lender finacing. Translation 0% finance OR 2,000.00. Word of warning take Nothing for granted until you write the check and take the car. Promises are worthless and ADD ons by the dealer is forever. ;)
