Buying a car from a MINI Car Dealer
We went the Portland Oregon Mini dealer yesterday. We couldn't find a Clubman S to our specifications so it was take one that wasn't exactly what we wanted and be able to take advantage of the option discount of $1575 OR order what we want without a discount. We are deciding on what to do. We were told there is really no negotiating on Minis especially on a special order. Anyone have any experience with this or any input? Based on what I've read here, it sounds like others have paid just over invoice. What's the trick?
If someone is really interested they will email me like the ones who already did and order their vehicle referred by me. Pardon my cynicism, but that sounds almost as if you are expecting a referral fee.
Yo Exit56 First the 2010s are in the showroom here... second, I sense an urgency in the tone of your email... If a dealer senses that also they will be much less inclined to "deal". I would suggest that you check the dealer inventory on the MINI USA site of every dealer within a few hundred miles, make a list of those that have what you want and then send the sales manager of each one an email in essence saying what you want, that you are ready to deal and see what their best offer would be... and see who gets back to you. THAT'S who you want to deal with! Two alternative suggestions... There are more convertibles in inventory in Fla & California this time of year. Buy one there and give your wife a plane ticket for her birthday... she can drive it home!! OR If she really wants a MINI, she probably knows exactly what she wants... for her birthday let her order a 2010 exactly the way she wants it... Trust me, the weeks between order date and delivery date will probably be some of the best of your life!! hahahahah... NOTE: Shop around. Even on a 2010 order don't pay MSRP! I was able to get a dealer to agree to Invoice plus a flat fee of $1,500. A factory order costs a dealer very little. IMHO, all dealers should adopt a policy on factory orders of "invoice + set fee". Hope this helps you out some....
Love the MINI - but agonizing over which to buy: 2007 mini cooper s convertible with auto, heated seats, CHILI RED, but cloth seats with just 3k miles (checked carfax no problems) for $24.9 OR 2009 mini cooper s convertible with auto, heated seats, PEPPER WHITE which looks a little blah, though adding stripes... and a few other options I don't really want, leatherette for $30k I've always been lectured about BUYING (which I"m doing) a New car due to depreciation once you drive it off the lot, but the used minis I've looked at -with high resale value - are pretty expensive too...opinions?
Hi In May, I leased a 2007 Mini Cooper (MSRP 25,200) for 169/month for 1 year with $2350 down. (Awesome deal) My residual value which I can buy the car for is $21,000. My question is, should I buy it or buy a 2008 with fewer options (this one has more options than I actually care about). The new one I priced out with the only options I want would be 2008 at around 21,500 or so. So I'd have a 1 year newer car and more lease for around the same price. OR if the dealer might go lower in the price to buy my 2007, should I do that? And does anyone have any experience with this--is it likely that the dealer would reduce the residual to get me to buy this one rather than get a 2008? thanks PS I thought I was supposed to change the oil at 5000 miles, but I called the dealer and they said I'm not due for service yet. I'm just about to hit 5000 miles, what am I supposed to do? I can't find anything in the manual or lease form that gives me specifics.
