Buying a car from a Volkswagen Car Dealer
Update: actually got this lesae deal after hours of negotiation on last day of year: Same MSRP: 29600 (2010 SE FWD with roof (no leather/nav) Sale Price: 26011 MF: 0.00141, Residual 50% (showed 14800 on lease) $595 lease fee waived but I paid title, plate, and doc fee. 5% WI tax $379 per month (only paid the fees for downpayment)
Thanks--I saw yours and Paul's postings over on VWvortex. Actually my dealer didn't promise me anything because I hadn't put in my order yet when we spoke last weekend, and he knew that I am in no rush to get a quick delivery. I should have no reason to doubt what he said, having known his manager and been their customer for many years. Prior to his revelation about the suspension of the custom orders for the 2010 Jettas he was also estimating a three-month delivery time. The rest is speculation (or being "uninformed") on my part. There are some differences in the market delivery options that we can order for the Jetta in WI compared with what you can order for the Jetta in CA (combination options involving the wing or lip spoilers, not talking about the PZEV), and I don't know why there is such a regional difference. Maybe there is also a regional difference in when VW is accepting custom orders? I haven't yet checked with my dealer about the 2010 prices which were supposedly released today. Will try to do that tomorrow, if I get around to calling him.
Congratulations on your new purchase! I, too, am paying cash for the car, but that doesn't seem to matter with these dealers here in WI. I can get the sedan TDI DSG for up to $1700 under invoice, but I can't get the SportWagen TDI DSG for around invoice or a bit over invoice. The wait continues, but if I have to wait too long I'll purchase something else. Thanks for the update.
I am looking at an '09 Jetta SE in Racine, WI and I have a quote for 18,800 + T,T,L. It ends up about 20K out the door. I am hoping to talk down to 16-17 out the door, think its possible?
