Buying a car from a Volkswagen Car Dealer
Hey! Thanks for the reply; I called the dealership in Spokane WA and gave them my vin number, etc. They said someone would call me back but after 4 days no one called. I purchased the car used but not at the VW dealership. I will give Appleway in Spokane another call and see if they can let me know if I am under the 4 years...glad you had a good experience with your dealer.
zurgdawg, Looks like some of the terminology is incorrect. Let's summarize the deal... MSRP............................................... 21,145.00 Sell Price.......................................... 18,219.00 Amounts Financed Acquisition Fee................................. 895.00 (VW Credit's is 595) Gross Cap....................................... 19,114.00 Cap Reduction................................. 0.00 Adjusted Cap................................... 19,114.00 Money Factor.................................. 0.00016 Term.............................................. 36 Residual Factor.............................. 56% Residual Value............................... 11,841.20 (Res Factor x MSRP) Monthly Base Payment................... 206.97 WA Sales Tax @9.80%.................. 20.28 Monthly Lease Payment................. 227.25 Amounts Due at Lease Signing... 1st Payment................................. 227.25 DMV............................................ 297.50 Dealer Doc Fee............................ 150.00 TOTAL DUE AT SIGNING............. 674.75 I'm assuming that the initial cap cost of 18,219 is really the selling price which is called the Agreed Upon Value in leasing parlance. If so, everything looks fabulous! The 0.00016 money factor is exceptional and the sell price looks terrific! The only red flag is the acquisition fee of 895. This is grossly inflated. As far as I know, VW Credit charges 595. Also, keep in mind that VW is offfering a $500 cash incentive. So, you may want to knock $500 off of the sell price as well as reduce the acq fee by $300. I'm certain you can successfully get one or the other, if not both. John
I was recently offered the following lease in Seattle, WA (Tax is 9.8%) and would love some insights to if you think this is a good/fair/bad deal. Thank you in advance for your help! 2010 Jetta Limited Edition w/ Sunroof & iPod Lease: 12,000/year for 36mo MSRP: $21,1450 LEV: 56% ($11,841.20) Initial Cap Cost: $18,219.00 Capped Acq Fee: $895 Adjusted Cap Cost: $19,114.00 Lease Money Factor: 0.00016 Base Monthly Rental: $206.97 Monthly Use Tax: 9.8000% - $20.28 Total Montly Payment: $227.25 Lic-LOCAL OPT: $297.50 Due At Signing: $674.75 (First month + registration + $150 doc fee) Should this be a bad deal, would love recommendations on what value(s) to negotiate. Thanks
My GTI was pretty much problem free in my 2 years of ownership. I would recommend one. ;) My 2007 had 1 minor recall. Did we own the same car? The 3.8L Genesis gets 18 MPG in the city, the worst I recall for my GTI was 22 MPG. I know VW addressed many of the niggling concerns for the 2010 model year and I would love to own one once again. Back to the lease inquiry; can someone explain "money factor" a bit better?
Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster... Thanks to everyone for the time you take to post good info; this forum helped me get a good deal on my new TDI in Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR. Dealers in the area were quoting $600 to $800 below invoice. I paid $500 below invoice to buy at a dealer close to my home. The Hannah VW dealer in Vancouver would not give me a price quote, but I was able to research and come up with a solid offer that I could stick to and the whole price negotiation took 15 minutes (no trade, pre-approved at my credit union). I paid taxes and title, but no other fees of any kind. In every other way, Hannah was superb; I just wish that they would give up a no nonsense price to start with. My new ride is is Blue Graphite with sunroof, protection kit and premium IPOD adapter. I am REEAAALLLY enjoying it! Thanks again all!
