Buying a car from a Lexus Car Dealer
Lexus in Mt Kisco, NY. You can order a consumer report new car buying system on line or by calling 1-800-225-9900. After you got the report, you can email to a few Lexus around you telling them that you have the consumer report new car buying guide and the price. Ask to see if they can offer you a price. What I did is telling them that I want to buy the car in a week, I name the options that I want and a few dealers comes back to me. I told them that I did not want to waste their time and mine. I did not want to test drive.. Mt Kisco is the closest one. If you are just looking, they may not be interested. Most dealer will email you and ask you to go in and they will give you the price. The lease MF is base on individual's credit score. You are dealing with internet sales department. You can not call them. The regular sales will not give such a discount. I made my arrangement thru email. When the price was agreed, I called to get direction to the dealship.
I don't know how far out on LI you are, but if you're willing to get it from Mt Kisco I liked my experience with Nerijus Aidukevicius (can ask for "Neary") at Lexus of Mt Kisco. He wasn't pushy while we were there nor after we left (were 2+months in between our first visit and when we decided to contact them to buy), seemed knowledgable, and didn't feel slimy like some stereotypical car salesmen. Got my 2010 RX350 on Dec 31st for $39500 + tax/title/etc. No nav, but has backup monitor, heated/vented seats, Premium Pkg, wood/leather trim wheel/shifter, cargo mat and net, and wheel locks. When I let the dealer I was dickering with in NJ know that I was going with Mt Kisco, he told me he probably could have got it down another $100 or $200 with his boss for me, but that was about it. Also, Nerijus told me that all Lexus' would be going up $400 on Jan 1st (I didn't follow through to see if that truly happened or not, but I'd be surprise if that couldn't be negotiated away still). MSRP w/o remote start was $44137. I got remote start installed at the dealer for $495 (originally asked $675; it's only $300 if you it's installed at the factory). When we picked it up we found out that they threw in 19" aluminum wheels (MSRP $660) instead of the normal 18", supposedly because they didn't realize the car they were offering to me had them until we'd already done our dealing including having had received the VIN for our insurance etc. If you get in touch/decide to buy from them and don't mind giving me a shout out, please tell them I referred you (Steve Dittmar). I think I get a free full car detailing or something for referrels. :P
lex_nj, Yes. The MSRP was 46241 (which is prem plus, nav, heated seats, cargo tray, etc.). My payment is $439 a month for 36/10K with Westchester County tax (7.375%). My payment before tax is $409. Out the door was acq fee, first month and registration fees. I believe that was like $1440. (It's been a week...the exact OTD is fading...but that's all there was). There was a 'small' decrepency between how I calculated the tax and how they did. We agreed on $38,000K sell price which should have been $409 and $439 by my calculator. They were about$5 more with taxes a month. We settled on the $439 with taxes in number which drove the actual sales price down to (I believe...don't the paperwork in front of me) to $37821 in order for them to come in at the $439 a month payment with taxes. So this deal was Prestige Lexus of Ramsey,NJ. A big dealer...a bit north of Paramus. I did the initial contact through their website...but they were very much a 'talk on the phone' kind of dealer once initial contact was established. When we talked, he salesguy asked me if there was a number I wanted them to beat. I didn't give him one and his offer was 39500. I went back and said all I wanted was a 'fair deal' and that fair (in the world of the Edmunds Forum at least) appears to be $38000. He matched that number within about 15 minutes. (Of course he had to talk to the sales manager.) My local dealer in Mt Kisco when I tried to 'work them' to the same price could only come in at $38300 for the same vehicle even with knowledge of the other offer. Ray Catenia in Larchmont might have been willing to work the price down to the same numbers...but I didn't think there was any difference between the two dealers in terms of distance from my house...so I took the first offer from Prestige. In hindsight it's a little bit of 'drag' as a NY resident buying a car in NJ. I didn't get new plates or a NYS registration sticker on delivery....I'm waiting for them to arrive at the dealer so they can be mailed to me. Also, the vehicle didn't come with a NYS inspection sticker...I haven't been back in touch with the dealer about it...but I suspect I'm out $35 and the time to have a local service station inspect the car to get the sticker. The $35 isn't a big deal of course...it's just another thing I have to get done on a Saturday. All and all it was a reasonable experience....I'm not 100% sure that next time I'd travel the 30 miles to save the $300...given that the free loaner car component will now require me to drive to NJ to receive the benefit (should I decide it's important to take advantage of)...and the 'wierdness' of driving a vehicle around with two dealer 'plates' that say Prestige and no registration other than a 'transport' sticker that's good through the end of the month. Hope this helps.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for the information that helps all of us negotiate a better deal. I picked up a new ES350 for my wife at the new Lexus of Mt Kisco, NY that just opened. The forum posts helped me save an extra $1500 with just a couple of phone calls. Information on deals that others have made is such a powerful negotiation tool. Thanks! My deal terms: 2008 ES 350 Navigation Premium Plus HID headlamps Intuitive parking assist Wood & leather steering wheel Rear side airbags Full size spare Preferred Accessory package (trunk mat, cargo net, wheel locks MSRP including destination of 42,385 24 month, 15k/yr lease vehicle cap cost 36,594 (I got 1000 extra off from Lexus for being a repeat customer) residual 57% 24159 money factor .00065 (1.6% interest rate, wow!) sales tax of 7.375% and 600 bank fee all rolled into the monthly payments 629.99 per month, includes tax and bank fee for 24 months zero down 1st month payment and motor vehicle and document fees of 240 due at drive away, total $870 paid at dealership no security deposit required My wife loves the car, with all of the nice electronics and controls, and the smooth, luxurious ride. $2000 out the door, the terms turns out to be 10k/36mths. Payment is now $412/mt tax included. The package is non nav, i believe the msrp is around $36k. Now offered a navigational package all terms the same but with mthly pmt of $447/mth (msrp around 39k). Is this a good deal?
