Buying a car from a Lexus Car Dealer
We just signed a lease Sat on a 2011 RX350 with: * Navigation System * Comfort Package * Premium Package * 19" Aluminum Alloy Wheels w/All Season Tires * 12-Speaker Premium Audio System * Intuitive Parking Assist * Towing Prep Package * Wood and Leather-trimmed Steering Wheel and Shift Knob * Cross Bars * Accessory Package MSRP $48,004 Selling Price $43,289 (a bit above invoice; however a little below our calculated Edmunds $44,849 TMV) 36mth/12k miles yr lease Lease fees $700 (I knew it would be there so negotiated it out with lower selling price) 59% Res, .0017 M/F $0.00 out the door Monthly Payment (with FL 7% tx) $597.19 ($13.10 more than our 2008 RX350 lease that was turned in with only 25k miles on it) . Not the best deal I've ever done; however we wanted a white RX350, and they were moving them fast. The dealers Finance Director showed me Lexus Dec Lease rates when I said to everyone that I've read DTR (Dec 2 remember) rate of .00155 was being quoted on the web. I guess the .00155 M/F was a special in some areas.
The 2010 inventory is going fast. Not much difference between 2010 and 2011 but a one year old car should have at least a $1500 spread or more between them at this time of the year. I was only offered Invoice on a 2010 model so I decline and bought a 2011. Word on the street is that by Thanksgiving (less than 60 days away) the 2011 RX350 will be at invoice at many dealerships or invoice minus a few hunrded at our friendly Mass. Lexus dealerships. I decided to take the plunge at invoice plus $300 because my wife wanted the car and they had the exact model, color and options we wanted. Many thanks to those who posted on this forum. It took me a few months to make this purchase but I did not get gouged by the dealership.
Dealer wouldn't budge on a 2010 RX 350. But, he called me and offered me a deal on a 2011 RX 350- last day of the month special. I got the RX 350 MSRP $47,700 for Invoice plus $300 (no extra doc or dealer fee). So, remaining 2010 inventory should be purchased for at least $1,000 under invoice or just get a 2011 like me for a few dollars more.
Hey Amy, with Gap insurance (495), new registration, FL tax the total came exactly to: $39747 out the door, My base price was 35525, but had tint added last minute for $200 so 35725 + 139 gov stamps, 437 new License Fee, 495 gap insurance. They included 2 some kind of certificates $500 each to give me $1000 discount ( they said they had to add it to get my price to the level I wanted, I did not investigate what is was, maybe passed buyer which I was not, lol). So if you decline gap insurance you should be at 39300 more or less out the door. Finance with no issues at 1.9% / 60 mo Lexus has until September 7th. $694/mo payment for 5 years. Silver metalic / black interior. Hope it helped you :-)
I lived in CA a long time, so I think it is just people are 10x slower in FL! The doc fee is essentially a profit to the dealer, but really so is the acquisition when say Lexus is the financing company as well (at least I think). The deal I mentioned was for 36mo/12k miles. I expanded my search a bit and here is the latest: 2010 RX350, premium, comfort, nav; along with 19" wheels, parking assist, tow prep, cross bars, accy package, wood & leather trim wheel & shift MSRP- $47,644 Sale Price- $42,533 (they are also paying $457 for last month of BMW lease) Acquisition- $700 Total cap cost- $43,289 MF- .00187 Resid- 58% $1600 due at signing ($600 doc, DMV, 1st month) $604/mo for 36 months/12k miles This certainly is much better. Any thoughts? I could really do w/o the extra $2200 in options over and above the 3 packages, but it seems to be hard to find a vehicle w/o at least some of these add-ons. W/o it would probably drop the payment quite a bit.
