Re: lease [trenz] by dkgsx on Fri Mar 18 19:49:27 PDT 2011

the numbers were for a 36-mo. lease in CA. But, being the first set of numbers, I don't trust them much, as the dealer, when I pushed him later, said 53% was possible. From my on-line observations, higher-optioned models usually have lower residual... 53% is quoted on the Kia's web site (Nov-2010 press release and in the current LX lease offer). 0.00034 MF seems on par with Sonata models (same parent co.). Despite lease money ($1000) and customer cash ($500), this particular dealer seems unwilling to get "selling price" below the invoice (but above cost)...

Re: Souls at invoice [Laura3436] by honkinunit on Mon Oct 26 13:58:15 PDT 2009

Wow. At $15,707 you actually got the car for under invoice, assuming the $695 destination is included in the $15,707. For that price I could fly to PA and drive it back to CO for less than what the local rip-off artist is quoting me. They are insisting that they can only offer $500 under MSRP, but then the destination and a $399 "dealer fee" get added back in. No thanks. When I am ready to buy, I will start emailing surrounding states and try to strike a balance between the distance I have to travel and the price. Colorado dealers are even worse than California, because it is so far to go to get competing markets. Dealers in Kansas City sell a lot of cars to Coloradans for this reason, especially Subarus. The new Legacy is going for $2000 over MSRP here.

New Rondo LX base by 204meca on Mon Oct 29 18:32:08 PDT 2007

You could say it was love at 1st sight when I spotted a Rondo in the dealer backlot Nov 06. I though i was a wonderful combo of size, comfort for 4-5 passengers, economy, & safety features for under $20K. Only one problem - we did not a new vehicle! But I have been following the Rondo ever since & just helped a co-worker purchase one. With all the standard equipment the only option she needed was AC. Armed with the MSRP of $17,990 & invoice of $17,100 (AC & floor mats), I called 5 area dealers 100 mile radius) & found 3 cars that meet our wants. All were on the same lot - naturally the furthest away! I then emailed the dealers & heard back from 3. I called them & asked what the difference was between the Costco price & the internet price - they all said would be the same. The complicating factor was having a 98 Ford Ranger trade-in that we had not been able to sell privately. I started with our local dealer who did not have the right car on the lot. I told them we needed an out the door price of $13,300. Negotiations went pretty quickly without a lot of hassle (sales guy only had to go back to the boss twice). They gave us the NADA wholesale price for Ranger ($3,500). Adding on sales tax (8.6%) taxes & registration, license, miscell taxes, they came within $60 of our target price & I decided it was not worth the time & effort to go 30 to 100 miles down the road & dicker with a trade-in... With a $2,000 rebate we got out the door for $13,360 plus a free oil change & full tank of gas. As best I can figure our actual cost was $17,469 vs Edmonds TMV of 17,763. Perhaps we could have done better without the trade-in, but given time constraints of work & the rebate ending Oct 31, it looked pretty good. In the end we got the what we wanted at a price that seemed fair to us & the dealer. My friend will be adding an aftermarket alarm & remote entry system with a lifetime waranty for $289. Maybe get a cargo cover from Kaipartspeople.com later. I truly appreciate Edmunds & these forums that provide so much information about viturally every vehicle available. I also think it is great that they have a long term Rondo. It will be fun to compare their experiences to that of my co-worker.

New/Used Amanti Purchase by jc3656 on Thu Jun 30 09:17:34 PDT 2005

I got my '04 Amanti 6/29/05 through a dealer auction direct purchase. Yes, I purchased a vehicle w/o actually seeing it, or driving it first. In fact, I was looking at SAAB 9-5's and Volvo S80's instead - So, why did I opt for the Amanti? My auction connection said that I could get a loaded '04 amanti 24k miles for about $13500 w/o sunroof. I thought about it and said, wait that is the one with Leather, trip PC, airbags everywhere, everything. More importantly the 10yr/100k warranty is what sold me. Now, you must also know I know my KIA's...I also have an '04 Sorento and love it (except for the HORRIBLE gas mileage 13/16 tops). It really is a little too early to say if I LOVE the Amanti...but, when I got the car with 24k miles, for $13080....I was less nervous about the purchase. The car was a rental, and I am in process of getting service records for Enterprise (we'll see). The only items I am a liitle upset about are that my car has no sunroof, heated seats, and ABS. I guess these are options the rental co's don't need or want to pay for. the car may need a brake job and I will need to get a 2nd new KeyFOB ($10 on ebay and $50 for dealer programming), and new key ($50)so...I feel I got a "good deal" so far on the overall purchase if that is all I have to stick into it right off the bat. The car does drive very smooth, and I am impressed by the overall size of the interior. Reminds me of what a lincoln might be sized like. It's big, that's all I know. Well, let me know if you think I got a good deal or not...I am curious. I KBB.com...the value. It looks like my car might have a trade in value of close to or little more than $13k and could retail for about $22k.
