Buying a car from a GMC Car Dealer
Thanks Car_Man In NJ, it appears that dealer's are offering competitive financing from GM Financial (formerly AmeriCredit and now GM's new captive fin co) in a battle to compete with Ally (formerly GMAC)... In January, GM Financial's: -implied rate (was given money factor) was lower (3.14% vs 4.25%) -residual was higher (46% vs 43%) -cash back was lower ($500 vs $2,000) -bank acq fee waived for certain states ($0 vs $695) -deposit waived for certain states -gap waiver was not included on back of the lease contract (as was with Ally/GMAC in the past)..have to purchase separately ($6XX vs. $0) All in all it worked out to be about $15 less per month to lease with GM Financial....this is even after purchasing the gap waiver from dealer....my ins co (state farm) does not sell it unless financing thru it's captive bank I'm sure numbers may have changed now that February is here, but wanted to give folks some insight as to what to expect when working the the dealerships.....also Ally now has a pull-ahead program for current lessees GM Financial is such a new entity, that my insurance co didn't even have them in their system and was unaware of their existence....
On Monday I test drove the Terrain AWD after looking to purchase either a Honda CRV, Chevy Equinox or the GMC Terrain. As a single mom I have only paid cash for the past several years inlcuding paying $30,000 cash for my current car a 2004 Land Rover Freelander...yes I know...poor choice of car. Due to my lack of credit usage I was told to get a co-signer in which my mother agreed to. Her credit score was an 820 and I was quoted the following: MSRP $26,800 sale price $25,100 less my trade of $5500 for 48 months for $288 monthly with a residual of 38% and a lease rate of 3.2%. The lease end value is $12,663 with 12,000 miles yr. I have no idea if this is a poor residual rate. Does this mean I would owe $1387 at the end of the 48 months? I believe it was also .15 cents every mile.Does anyone know what GMC charges for depreciation for normal wear and tear at end of lease? Thanks for your help! P.S. I had no problem with leasing thru Honda and was in their 2nd tier(Preferred-not Super Preferred) & did not need any co-signer.
Hello all, Anyone know what the current GMAC lease details are on Sierra 1500 crew cab and extended cab. I have heard 61% for 3yr/36mi but can't button down a money factor or interest rate. I am in Colorado. Thank you very much for the help! Greg in Denver
Here is some information for anybody who can use it. I have an actual invoice on a 2008 SLT-2 AWD with an MSRP of 41470.00 It has sunroof, 19" ultra bright wheels, head-up display, trailering pkg. Invoice is 38907.23 including 407.35 in co-op advertising. Hold back is 1222.05 which the dealer gets even if you purchase at invoice. The invoice is dated 10/07 so prices may be higher now. I work at a new car dealership, but it is not a GM dealer. Zylon? costs us 75.00 plus the labor to apply. Fabric protector is probably the same cost. Interest rates are about 5.5% for 60 months with good credit. This does not include the special rates given by the different manufacturers. I am a car nut and purchase at least one new vehicle a year. I know that each time I buy, the dealer makes money. My only defense is to arm myself with as much info as possible On another post I will give details on my quest for an Enclave or Acadia.
I am in Denver, CO, looking at a new 2007 Denali with Rear entertainment and Blue/Green paint option for $39,600(includes dealer fees)before taxes. Sound good????
