Buying a car from a Scion Car Dealer

NY Scion Car Consumer Discussions

My 2 month attempt to buy a Scion is over... by hulkedup on Sun Feb 01 08:04:22 PST 2009

I finally bought a Scion xB on Friday (see messages: 313, 318, 319 & 323 for my ordeal). I took a serious look at both the Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix after calling off my search for an xB at a reasonable price. My local dealers all wanted a $300-600 documentation fee to do the sale. I eliminated the Matrix because I could not find one locally with the specific options I wanted. The local Toyota dealers did not seem to want to go out of their way to locate a car for me either. I had much better luck with the Vibe. Two dealers were very willing to work with me and gave me offers of slightly over $16,000 for a compatibly equipped Vibe. Even at that price I think the Scion is worth $400 more to get the convenience features like ipod integration, trip computer, steering wheel controls, etc. I found a dealer in NY (about 1 and a half hours away) willing to sell me an xB at sticker with a $45 doc. fee. (NY state law caps these fees at $45.) They added on a couple of extra charges at the end for another $50, but I saved about $250 over what I would pay locally and the dealer even delivered the car to my house. I've had the Scion for a few days now and am very happy with my decision.

Romano Scion Toyota experience by eddp on Sun Feb 18 14:33:54 PST 2007

Hello, I purchased a new tC from Romano Toyota Scion in Syracuse NY. There were no discounts and the price was sticker price. I probably could have done a bit better on the tradein by selling outright, but the trade was a POS and I really didn't want to deal with it. The sales team at Romano was excellent. And Roland Sanchez was easy going, no pressure, happy to take the time for a long test drive. Paper work issues on my tradein pushed the deal out a couple of days and they were more sympathetic than worried about closing the deal. The only issue that I had was the shop installed the mudflaps without my authorization, I would have done it myself instead of pay for such a simple job, but the salesman knocked the install fees off the bill. So not much other than list price, but a little bit that was appreciated. I'd been shopping for a few months and chose the Scion over the four cylinder model Mitsu Eclipse and Hyunda Tiburon as the Scion was quieter and seemed solider than those two. I've had the ride for about 2000 miles now and absolutely nothing has gone wrong. The car gets funner to drive every day. The only down side is the seat, while supportive, is uncomfortable on long highway trips. (Keeping my Impala for highway cruising.) I definitely recommend Romano Scion and the tC. :)

xBox by scionxbboi3 on Fri Jun 16 15:55:14 PDT 2006

I picked up my xB two days ago, gotta say I didnt have a single prob with pricing, delivery, or anything else. I paid $15,808 for my Box which has, all the standard equip + 5 spd, floor and cargo mats, spoiler, graphics, 6 disc c/d, and center armrest. I am also getting an $84.00 check cut back to me because I got rid of the security system and opted for the 6 disc and armrest. I live in Upstate NY picked it up from Empire Toy/Sci Oneonta. A great Dealer, gotta say most people hate dealerships but I can honestly say that this one does right by its customers.

Just saw your post, hope that you didn't buy the xB from that dealership! I just bought my xB in Smithtown, Long Island's Scion. Decent service, very little dealership's fees. Should check it out if you were still looking for a box :D

I just bought my xB in Long Island, NY, the only fee from the dealer is a 45 bucks processing fee or something. Check with all the dealerships around you before you buy!
