What is the story behind this offer on http://www.buick.com/pages/mds/pricing/affordability.do $2735 due at signing $409/mo 39 months 39000 miles Payments are for 2010 Buick Enclave CX with MSRP of $35,940. Month payment total $15,932.67. Option to purchase at lease end for an amount to be determined at lease signing. GMAC must approve lease. Take delivery by 11/2/09. Lessee pays for excess wear. Payments may be higher in some states. Not available with other offers. As of October 14, 2009, if I have the right math, this is %51 residual with %0 lease cash calculation. If you take 0.6 lease cash, then this is around %60 residual value, is that not right? Since this is on the buick site, I don't know where the %40 residual is coming from? I called a dealer to get a quote for $650 instead of this with about the same down payment. So the "dealers are trying to ripp off" and "they deserve to go bankrupt" are two favorite phrases in my mind now. If this SUV looses %60 of its value during the lease term, give me one good reason to lease or buy this vehicle... I rather buy a 2007 Enclave with 39000 miles on it for a fraction of the price. I would feel ripped if I buy this for anything above the advertised lease deal...

Re: Enclave lease or Q7 [cofla99] by ody02tjk on Mon Jul 07 10:06:52 PDT 2008

Cofla99: I ended up with the Enclave and Q7 as my top 2 choices when buying a car last May. I found that with Audi's excellent leasing deals (basically no interest on their leases), the monthly payment on a 3.6 Premium Q7 with Nav, 20in wheels, 4 seasons, panorama roof, bluetooth, convenince, and premium paint came to only $695/mo for 36 months, with 12K miles per year. The upfront costs were $3000, part of which was the first payment. While the Buick is quite nice, and a good bit roomier than the Audi, the GM lease rates and residuals are not good at all. The loaded Enclave (CXL AWD) I attempted to buy ended up with a lease pmt of $690/mo, with the same mileage and term as the Audi. For the extra $5 per month, there is no comparison. I found that the Edmunds true market price is about on target for here in MD. Check your local dealers, and hold out for the true market prices. Use the true market price to estimate your lease pmt. Also, the Edmunds lease pmt program was spot on with all of lease calculations I did. Figure out your sales price, and plan on 51% residual (52% with the Audi Care program) rate.

Re: Residual and Money Factor [724soccer] by ody02tjk on Tue Oct 09 08:12:39 PDT 2007

Back in MAY, I wanted a CXL AWD in Gold Mist, with the Cocoa interior. I needed the car within a week, as my old car had been totalled. I found the color and equipment in Ohio (I am in MD). Two dealers stated they would DX with the Ohio dealer for the one I wanted. However, both of the Buick dealers jerked me around to try to buy what they had in stock. This drove me to look elsewhere, and I got an Audi Q7 for only $10 more per month on the lease than the Buick. The Buick was nice, but the Audi is a lot nicer, includes the maintenance, and was a much better deal financially.

Re: your thoughts on Enclave lease quote? [lwolf99] by ody02tjk on Thu Jun 28 10:25:09 PDT 2007

Lwolf99: You need to stick to your invoice offer, or go with the other dealer. I think they will continue the Conquest rebates, as that $ is crucial to attracting buyers to the vehicle. I would recommend looking out side your metro area to other dealers in Central PA, Eastern Ohio, or MD to see what they have in stock. At the end of last month, when I was shopping hard, each of the 4 I was dealing with told me they would sell at invoice for what they have in stock. I hate to say it, but these dealers will DEAL when they know they have something to sell. Check around on GMBuyPower to see which dealers have exactly what you want. Also, with the July holidays coming up, as well as the end of June, you should be able to get the deal you want. These places need to sell some units. My closest dealer (in Cockeysville, MD) still has the same 2 CXL Enclaves (in Red and Silver) as when I tried to buy 4 weeks ago. There is demand for the Enclaves, but they know buyers expect invoice deals on GM cars.

I think you need to find another dealer. When I was shopping at the end of last month, at least 3 local (MD) dealers were willing to sell me a nearly identical Enclave as yours at invoice price. The 7.7% sounds a little high (if your credit score is below 700 they may be raising the rate above 7.2% I was quote). Also, the dealers I dealt with were quoting a 36 month residual of 63%, so the 67% sounds a bit low. Using the Edmunds Lease calculator (http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/CalculatorController?pmtcalAction=lease_calc) I came up to a payment of $727.17 before taxes. The deal you have been shown seems high. For the equipment you specified, I came to an invoice of $41679. Given that it already as 800 miles on it, I would start at a price below invoice. Even at invoice, you should get a price of about $40679 (invoice less the conquest rebate). They seem to be gauging you in several ways, first the price, then the lease payment. Negotiate the price first, and then get a lease quote from a leasing company. Now that you can go on GMBuyPower.com to see what OTHER dealers have the exact car you want. I would recommend shopping around until you find the car you want. I recall seeing several in the Cocoa/Cashmere combination, so if you are near a metro area, you sould be able to find one quickly. With the end of the month approaching, I would shop around as there will be several willing to make deals. I did all of my shopping via the phone and Email. I found the internet managers at most dealers were more willing to negotiate as well.
