Buying a car from a Chevrolet Car Dealer
I bought a new 2011 Malibu. I think you should do the same. I got a 2500 gm rebate with 1000 gm loyalty rebate with 500 dealer cash and 2000 gm credit card credit and the dealer was at 2000 off MSRP. The MSRP was 25500 (LT2 4cyl plus sunroof) and I got it for 17,200 and out the door at 18,700. You can also get a Pontiac G6 2010 rental with about 17000 miles and the v-6 engine for about 16,000 around columbus, Ohio. The 2010 g6 was available to rental fleets and is actually a Malibu with pontiac sheet metalw which is actually quite nice.
Hi Pete Thanks for your response. The dealer is JBA Chevrolet in Glen Burnie, Md. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I have never ordered a car before, always bought off the lot, but I thought I read somewhere that VIN was assigned to my specific order. Mine was (is) a blue LT2 with a sunroof and a couple of other options. I know from looking at car inventories the blue ones aren't just sitting around. Silver and white maybe, but not blue, so I know it stood out. Thanks for the information on the sales rep. We will do that. I know it will be worth it once it arrives, but this is a big convenience. My son is taking my old car and my husband and I planned to let him drive to school and sports practices. Now we are paying a lot for a parking space at school that he can't use and in the worst scenario I will be driving him until the end of school. Anyway, thanks for the info. I am not a cynical person, but something smelled fishy to me.
I purchased a 2010 Equinox six weeks ago.. The list price was $27,050. I was able to get deductions for my GMCard ($4550), credit union member ($250), ca$h for Clunkers ($4500- 2000 Dodge Durango), and the dealer took off another $500 or so, total deductions from list price was approx $9800. I did all this a day before the clunker program ended, and with the Durango worth about $1,000 (my son modified it, raised the body, huge wheels and tires, off roaded, burnt out the electronics such as radio, defrost, etc.- generally dogged the Durango) I was very eager to finalize deal, plus only a couple Equinoxes avail in DC area by then. I guess I could have gotten a little bit better deal, but not worth the risk of losing clunker cash.. I guess I may have left a few dollars on the table, but with all the deductions I got, I was ready, willing and did the deed. I am very, very happy... if anyone wants a good dealer in DC area, Jack Winegartner Chevrolet in Fort Washington, MD did a great job for me. what a great vehicle..funny, dont know whether to call it a car, wagon, truck, SUV... my Equinox rides great, perfect on a long distance trip, good for around town too. I have the 3.0 engine>> wanted the 4 cyl but there was only one Equinox within 30 miles when I purchased mid August 2009. Moonroof, upgraded stereo system, great seats, the interior colors and design are fantastic. My MPG was approx 24 mpg on the long distance trip, mostly freeways for 600 mi, but the wife drives like a jack rabbit, kept downshifting the 6 speed tranny every time she mashes the gas peddle down (sorry honey, no finesse!!) My around town milage is 21.6 mpg. Not too bad, but I am hoping it improves (only 2k miles). (Comparable in weekly cost to my luxury import car @ 25 mpg w/high test gas). This beats the 12 mpg Dodge Durango (2000) we $-4-clunkered in. Anyone looking to purchase a CR-V, Ford Edge, any Chrysler product, or needing to easily transport up to 5 adults at a time, should test the Equinox. I am very happy with my Equinoxee. Best features for me: 1. Size is perfect. Not too big, not too small. 2. Great job on exterior and interior design. Cabin is very pleasing to my eye with color/layout. 3. Decent gas milage for vehicle this size. 4. Adjustable rear seat with tilt.. very nice. 5. Great ride. I feel very safe, I like all the air bags- hope I dont need them. My complaints in case GM is listening: 1. I like to drive with arm on window sill> uncomfortable for me. The curve of door is too sharp by the window. 2. Radio controls should be in steering wheel. 3. Should have fog lights standard on all trim levels. 4. I hate daytime running lights. 5. I dont like doors auto unlocking when drive placed in Park. 6. I would like master door lock/unlock button on front doors not in center of dash. Thats it. I really like the car, and I am glad I purchased the Equinox, but as with anything, there could be some positive changes. I have not driven my 2005 Mercedes C230 since getting the Equinox !! I really like this ride.
I never throught I would buy a Colorado because the automotive press has always been so hard on them, but the deals over the past few weeks were too good to resist. Frankly, once I test drove one, it was clear the press had really exaggerated any drawbacks compared to the Tacoma. Also, after reading on the internet about Tacoma's un-resolved "engine surge" issues and the company's refusal to acknowledge them, I really soured on getting one of those. I had also considered Nissan's Frontier, but the company's reliability record has been generally no better (or worse) than Chevy's on JD Powers surveys the past few years, so I couldn't justify the higher price. Basically, the small-sized GM trucks started looking better and better, and the massive incenrtives finally enticed me. Anyhow, I digress. Here was my buying experience on Sunday, 21 September 2008. I did massive research on he internet, so I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted, and exactly what I was willing to pay. I found exactly what I was looking for and called the dealer up to make sure it was still in-stock - a 2008, Colorado Crew Cab, LT, 5 Cyl, RWD, in Dark Ruby pretty well "loaded" with: - Leather seats & Leather wrapped steering wheel - Power seats (both passenger & driver) - Heated seats - Side air bags - Power windows, locks and mirrors - Sunroof/moonroof - 6-disc,CD changer w/ XM & MP3 - Sliding rear window - Chrome wheels (basically extra-shiney "alloy" wheels) - Onstar - Bedliner - probably a couple of things I'm forgetting MSRP was 27,5XX, GM Employee price was 24,7XX, minus $1,500 "cash back" it came to $23,265, and after subtracting an additional $1,500 in GM credit-card discounts, it came to $21,765. Unfortunately sales tax was $1,800, which pretty much wiped out my GM-card benefits - Maryland sucks for sales tax. The dealer's finance guy got us 4.9% interest over 60 months thru BoA (which beat my bank's pre-approved 5.44%). I'd newer used this dealer before (Ourisman Rockmont, in Rockville MD), but they were fine, and very efficient. The entire process from walking in, to driving home took about 1hr 20 minutes. So far, so good. I'm happy with my purchase. We'll see how it holds up over time; maybe I'll post a follow up in a few months. Regards, Mike R.
Williams in Elkton Md has everyone beat in the tri state area in my opinion, Now is the time to buy an suv with the 6k rebate, I have bought 34 suburbans intermixed with a few tahoes from williams. Again, in my opinion, when GM gets the inventory reduced, the rebates will not be as generous.
