Buying a car from a Volvo Car Dealer
Mine finally came! So far, so good. I'm still testing everything out and getting used my new toy. Wooo! Just to sum up my buying experience. The dealer offered me $300 over invoice on the spot but he mentioned the Costco discount so I renewed my Costco membership to get $500 under invoice. But this discount is countered by a $500 advertising fee which is supposed to be common for all dealerships in the DC area (my dealership is in Alexandria, VA). So with the Costco discount I paid right at invoice. I ordered my XC60 on Dec 17th and it was ready for me to pick up on Feb 24th. The wait sucked. Total invoice was $45,995: (nadaguides.com has an accurate listing of invoice prices) 2011 XC60 T6- $36,096 Saville Grey / Black interior- 517 Multimedia Pkg- 2538 Technology Pkg- 1974 Convenience Pkg- 1128 Climate Pkg- 940 BLIS- 658 PCC- 517 Xenon- 752 At F&I I was offered but declined: Lojack ~$1000 (do you need this when the vehicle has an ignition immobilizer?), 7-year paint sealant and interior treatment ~$690 (didn't believe it would work - I'll just wax and clean as necessary), tire & rim warranty ~$750 (likely damage would be from an accident and covered by my auto insurance), 4-year dent protection ~$700 (I'll just get dents/dings repaired as needed by a paintless dent repair guy), and maybe one other thing. I did buy a 10-year, 105K warranty for $3350 to cover the electronics and help the resale of this vehicle (I'll probably sell at year 7 so I can hopefully get a full-electric mid-size SUV). So my total vehicle cost was: Invoice- $45,995 Titling tax- 96 Dealer Business Lic. tax- 78.84 Sales tax (MD)- 2072.19 License fee- 180 Dealer Processing fee- 379 = $49,601.03 + $3350 (warranty) = $52,951.03. (Doh!) The front blind view camera is not included in the Multimedia package, so I'm waiting for a price for the dealer to install that. Has anyone had this installed yet? I don't know why Volvo doesn't make that an option for the US. It's an option for UK buyers.
That's great to hear. I'm getting excited to get my XC60 2011.5 model. Didn't realize that the hood was redesigned. Also, the sensus can play DVD which is interesting. I got a delivery date of 3/6/11 but they did say they are getting delivery sooner. I bought my Volvo from Herb Gordon in Silver Spring, MD. They were great to work with when I made the deal. Though I'm having a hard time getting in contact with the finance department. I wish they would return calls faster. We are financing the car. We are hoping to get that 2.9% deal from last month. Hopefully I will know soon. The other dealer that I tried before was Darcars Volvo Rockville, Maryland. But had a bad experience with them. It's bad when I know more then the salesman. They didn't even know about the Sensus on the 2011.5 model (week 46) and even told me that it's an additional cost to have that installed. He also told me that if I did the OSD, I had to pay all cash since the car can't be financed until it has a VIN number. Really? Herb Gordon would have financed it on the spot.
I checked and according to http://www.volvocars.com/us/sales-services/sales/volvo_overseas_delivery/orderin- g_your_new_volvo/Documents/Volvo-OSD-MY11-XC60-Pricing.pdf I got the following XC60 T6 AWD: 36, 480 Premium: $2,500 Conveience: $1000 PCC: $550 Plus Dealer Tags: $99 Plus Dealer Handling: $200 Volvo Incentive: -$1000 Taxes (5% MD taxes): $2389.74 Total Cost with OTD: $42218 I bought the car "Out the door" for $40,500 plus I get $500 card. I put the breakdown for OTD in my one of my prior post So it wasn't exactly $2000, more like 1718 difference. But still a big difference.
Mention Zag pricing when you contact Marten's. If you contacting Darcar Volvo in Rockville, MD, talk to their Internet sales manager for best pricing.
I am not sure what is this $750. The e-mail says "Take an additional $750 off our already low, Internet E-Price!" (I assume that is after loyalty and costco discount). See the link below, there is a new item of $750 just posted. I am very serious to buy one soon. I am in MD/VA. I was told that they only have special edition, which is about $2000 more than your price. http://www.edmunds.com/incentives/RebateController?styleid=100995853&popuppage=o- n
