"Regional Package" a Must Have on new Tahoe LT by mountain01 on Tue Aug 10 17:16:51 PDT 2010

Do not buy 20" wheels as an standalone option. You will save $$$ by selecting a vehicle with the Regional Package that includes the larger wheels. Also, the Regional Package will give you several other options. I learned this lesson the hard way - paid $500 more for a car with $1500 less options. Buying a la carte will hurt your wallet! Shop around for the Regional Package even if you have to travel to find the car.

Well, I WAS approved through GMAC for 0% interest at Wondries Chevrolet in Alhambra, CA. I was trying to take advantage of the "cash for clunkers" program. My auto is a 1991 Ford Explorer XLT. So I qualified. I wanted to buy the HHR L2 w/leather package. I was told all was ok...my paperwork was in order (income, registration, insurance, & registration). This took place on Friday 9/21. I had to leave town for Las vegas that evening & would return on Sunday, 9/23. I explained this to them & asked if I needed to be there it to sign any documents in order for the cash for clunkers paperwork to go thru, they told me no, despite them not having the car in stock, however, they went on the internet & located an available one at another dealer. They told me they called that dealer & the car would b there for sure by Monday. We were to finish the financing paperwork at that time. I asked them if my being away would b a problem, they said no because they did not have the HHR in their possesion at that time anyway. They had my cell #, I asked them to call if they needed to speak w/me about anything. I was about only 3-4 hrs driving distance away. I did not hear from them over the weekend, so I assumed all was fine. I returned to calif Sunday evening & called them Monday morning, they told me all was ok, they would get the car that day, all they had to do was release a check to the other dealer. Well, since the clunker cars would b junked, I went to the store I had the radio I bought installed for my Ford & had it removed. Within 1 minute after that took place, I get a call from Wondies Chevrolet, saying they COULD NOT get the car, that it had been sold by the dealer that promised it to them. (Chevrolet dealer in Glendale, CA) When earlier, they told me that the car was available at that dealership! I then drove to Wondries. They proceeded to tell me all kinds of reasons why they did not get the car, & now it was just not available. However, there was no consistency in what they were telling me, so I thought they were just lies. They never took responsibility & blamed it on the other dealership. I was also told that they needed the HHR to b in their dealership so the VIN # of the HHR could b submitted in the cash for clunkers paperwork. Now, remember, I had asked them about the paperwork needed for this on Friday. They also told me that Wondries had stopped the cash for clunkers deal on Sunday evening. I was never contacted by phone & told anything of this, I learned it when i went to them on Monday, 9/24. Suffice to say, I was not able to get the car. I was so upset & felt so violated. Did not think I would b able get the car as the program was ending & some other dealerships ended it the night before. Now, the cash for clunkers deal is off & I still have my Ford clunker. In addition an inqury or 2 on my Credit Report and no new car!

Re: Pulled the trigger on Friday [fpinho] by sierra95831 on Fri May 01 09:51:06 PDT 2009

Thanks, pao -- You heard what I was trying to say. fpinho, I've spoken with a number of dealers about getting the $2000 lease rebate even though I don't have a lease. They all say that GM will hold them accountable for each of these, and if they can't show evidence of an actual, specific lease, GM won't pay the $2000 and it'll come out of the dealer's pocket. Not many dealers are likely to give away an extra $2000 to sell a car. I heard of one dealer in the LA area who would give up $1500 of that money -- but that's a bit too far from where I live for me to take a chance that he's on the up-and-up (especially since he is, by definition, breaking GM's rules). All I've ever asked here is that people explain where they get their figures. Just stating how much someone got off a car doesn't help the rest of us find similar deals. And I thought that was what this forum was all about. Thanks for providing the additional details on your numbers. That clears things up a lot, and I can see now how you got to your final price. The only one I'm still not sure about is that lease rebate. If I found a dealer willing to go through with that, I'd be ready to buy.

Deals Still Had by stukdog on Wed Nov 19 06:01:49 PST 2008

Since it's been so long for a post to be written in this section, I thought I'd write an update of my own. I was able to get an LT3 priced $12k below MSRP here in Las Vegas. MSRP was $47635 and after haggling, I had it down to $35,400. I ended up not going for the Tahoe though.

Re: Looking at buying a new silverado [samhell99] by trousermouse on Fri Mar 14 12:23:43 PDT 2008

If you credit is good and you plan on financing the best deal is the 0.0 financing for 60 months. That is basically a free loan for 5 years. Forget about the $2000 incentive. Interest rates from banks or credit unions are between 5.5 and 6.5% with good credit. With a $30,000 loan at 6% for 5 years you will spend $4,799.04 in interest on the loan. A lot more than you saved with the $2000 incentive. As for negotiating a price at the dealer, I would not pay more than invoice. There is a $440 Factory to Dealer incentive on most Silverados and I would make them give you every penny of it. The sales person may not be aware of the incentive but the sales manager definitely knows so dont get to rude with the sales person just yet. If they act dumb, print this out and take it with you. http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/chevrolet/silverado1500/100911251/incentives.htm- - - l?vdp=off&setzip=78759&state=TX Update: Just noticed the Factory to Dealer incentive is only available to residents of the following: LA/OK/TX/Select Counties in AR/KS/MS/MO/NM. Truck and SUV sales are way down and the purpose of the incentive is to stimulate sales. Also, on the invoice you will see LAM Dealer and LAM Group contribution. That isnt a contribution in your favor and is just a junk advertising fee to give the dealer more profit. Some dealers will drop it if you push hard enough and others wont. With truck sales down you have pretty good chance of getting them to do it. Give them the price you will pay and stick with it. They will try every trick to get you to budge. Tell them that if they want to sell you a car, thats the price. If they say no deal, give them a business card or a piece of paper with you phone number and tell them you are going up the road to XYZ dealership and if they change their mind to give you a call. Also make sure you specify when you give them the price that it is $XX,XXX plus TT&L. Otherwise they will try and add other fees to the price. Good luck. Donnie
