I see. I'd never heard of that before but people tell me that it is the same thing in VA. If you buy the car there you have to pay their taxes. In TN active duty pay no sales taxes on new car purchases if you show the dealer a set of your orders.

Prius V, Tech Pkg by dan19 on Thu Dec 23 18:17:40 PST 2010

Paid 29,350 for a Prius V, tech package (include Navi), floor and cargo mats, pin striping, bumper guard, ToyoGuard paint/seat protection; price includes $595 dealer prep. Got this price thru USAA. Bought in GA while I live in TN. I still have to pay the sales taxes. I think I got a great deal.

You are replying to a message from 1 1/2 years ago :D . In any case, you are correct, nothing is a bigger ripoff than a factory NAV unit. You can get a Garmin with lifetime free traffic for $100 or less ($120-140 for a wide-screen model). Every factory system I have tried is out of date - way more than Garmin or TomTom (and those are out of date too). The biggest problem is that the factory NAV units lack the ability to navigate on back roads in out of the way places. Once you get off the main drag anywhere in small town America you are out of luck. They have the images of the streets, but can't route you on them.

Re: Prius IV w/Solar Lease Question [jackk1] by dwynne on Wed Sep 08 11:20:32 PDT 2010

You can figure invoice right here at Edmunds (and other places) by looking up everything on the window sticker and the cost. Get the MSRP to add up and then see the invoice. It should be around $30,343 for a car with a MSRP of $32,235. So your price would appear to be a little under, which is good. Some dealers are offering a good bit under invoice, so there may be room to move on your price. I don't know where you live and what the taxes and fees are like, but you need to get a breakdown of where the money is going in both lease deals to see if you are being offered a decent deal or the shaft.
