Re: MKZ lease [rj123456] by Car_man on Mon Jun 15 02:59:51 PDT 2009

Hi rj123456. I'm sure that the MKZ is more expensive today than when you leased yours back in 2006, but that's probably not the main issue here. Leasing in general is more expensive today than it was back then. Vehicles' lease payments are made up of two parts, the interest portion and the depreciation portion. It retrospect, now that higher gas prices and a slower economy have taken their toll on used vehicle values, manufacturers had been overestimating the future values of vehicles that they were leasing. In many cases, the vehicles that they had leased to consumers were worth significantly less than what they had estimated they would be. This phenomenon caused many banks to take huge, millions and millions of dollars, hits to their earnings and to be more conservative in estimating vehicles' residual values going forward. In some cases, TSB 09-7-4 supersedes TSB 08-12-5. I was told that I needed repairs from TSB 09-7-4.

I have a 2008 FWD MKZ. With city driving the onboard computer tells me 23.4mpg. My city driving is a mix of some interstate and city. On all interstate trips I'm getting around 28mpg.

Kimputer, Would you be so kind as to post the TSB # just in case anyone else is in need. Also, just curious as to what is going on with your trans?
