Buying a car from a Volkswagen Car Dealer
Visited a Volkswagon Dealer in Greenwich, CT. Was presented a 36 month lease offer on a Jetta with a 10,000 mileage allowance. I told the salesperson I needed 15,000 per year. The salesman said that total cost of the lease would increase by 5000 miles x .20 per mile x 3 years, or $3,000. Is this the correct way to adjust for increase in mileage allowance? Why would anyone pay all that up front, when VW will charge $.20 per mile over 10,000 at lease end? Something is wrong here? Is the sales person trying to stick it to me?
You've made 4 or 5 posts in this thread and every one of them is commenting on problems with two GTIs you've owned. This is a thread about prices paid for GTI's. If you want to bash VW while praising Hyundai, create a thread called 'Genesis Coupe v. VW GTI'. It's annoying here. Really though you might as well compare a Cadillac CTS with a GTI since comparing a Hyundai makes about as much sense. You clearly don't 'get' VW's so why try.
Thank you for he reply to my question. I am in Westchester NY near the CT border. I do not think you should feel you could have done much better, I have been trying for a while and not got a deal like yours, well done. I will wait till the end of Jan and try again with the dealers in CT.
Thanks! I am LOVING this car. Yes, all I paid upfront was $375 and the $445 is my monthly payment. The MF and residual were exactly what one of the mods posted a few screens back for 10K/year, 39 months in December: MF, .00131; residual, 52. Here is what I did: 1. On Monday--the last day of the month, last day of the year--I called several dealers in my area (Fairfield County, CT). I told them exactly what I wanted (4WD Wolfsburg with sunroof; Candy White or White Gold with Sandstone Beige interior) and that I was ready to make a deal that day. For that package, the lowest I got was $375 OOP and $416/month. 2. I used that figure and called all the dealerships back (except the one that gave me the $416 of course). I reiterated that I would sign that day and wanted to know if they could beat the $416. 3. When I called VW Danbury, they told me that they didn't have what I wanted and so I said thanks and crossed them off my list. 4. Danbury called me back--it's like dating, nothing like telling someone no to make them want you more!--and said that they really wanted to make a deal for end of the year. They had the color combo I wanted but it had nav and the other stuff. I told them I needed to stay in the low $400s for monthly payment, not negotiable, with $375 OOP. We agreed on $445 and I picked it up that afternoon. I purposely waited for end of the month/end of the year and tried to make it as easy as possible for the dealereverything done over the phone, knowing exactly what I wanted, etc. Its funny because I feel like I should have negotiated even lower. You always feel like you get screwed, right? I also know that I didn't negotiate "the right way"--I totally went off of monthly payments, but I felt like it was okay since I had an idea of what was decent, reading through all these forums and such! Hope that helps. What state are you in?
Hello Car_man. Where are you seeing the $1K incentive on this vehicle? I do not see this on the incentives page here.
