Looking for 17K deal on 2008 Crossfire Convertibles by mauiceo on Sun Jul 05 22:11:08 PDT 2009

Hi, I came across the comments about the two lucky guys who paid $17K for their new 2008's. I'm looking for a similar deal. Can buy in CA or TX (or have it shipped, I guess). Convertible / Roadster. I don't care about the lifetime powertrain warranty exception. Does anyone know where I can get one? Any color but gold. :-) Thanks for your help!

Re: Chrysler vs Toyota vs Honda quandary! [deltheking] by nm_socal on Fri Jan 02 17:22:58 PST 2009

I agree ... Sienna wins this battle hands down. Which is a shame. Here is a potential buyer (or many, on this forum alone), who walks into your showroom, receives good service, is willing to purchase the higher-end version of your product, even in this economy. They find that it's $4,000 cheaper than their competitor, and yet, they walk away. Really a shame, specially at this time, when the company is hurting like it is. How can one hope for a recovery? Signing off from my soapbox!

Chrysler vs Toyota vs Honda quandary! by nm_socal on Fri Jan 02 11:59:50 PST 2009

Location: Southern California Dear Friends. I am also stuck in the same analysis, of picking one over the other. Haven't jumped the gun yet (or bitten the bullet - you pick your metaphor!), but planning on going for it by this weekend (Jan 5th). My best options for comparable minivans (all 2009; all with leather seats, DVD, navigation, blue-tooth, reverse camera): Chrysler T&C Touring with package 25L. * Power-fold 3rd row seat * Stow'n go 2nd row captain seats * Two DVD screens ... huge plus, in a family with an 8-year old and a 5-year old * 20GB (or is it 30GB) hard-drive instead of CD changer Toyota Sienna XLE with package 4 * Moon-roof * Power lift-gate Honday Odyssey EX-L wtih RES and NAV * Power liftgate PRICES: Chrysler ... MSRP $37k ... Best price: $27k Toyota ... MSRP $34,850 ... Best price: $31k (w/ 2.9% for 5yrs) or $30k (no sp financing) Honda ... MSRP $37,525 ... Best price: $33,795 (w/ 3.9% for 5yrs) I am inclining towards Toyota ... but am open to thoughts and suggestions. I intend to keep the car for 6-8 years (or longer) and while resale is not a concern, the longevity and reliability of the car sure is. My editorial: Historically speaking, Toyota/Honda retain their value better, and are less prone to problems. Notwithstanding the anecdotal observations that oppose this, I, therefore, would support Chrysler for a 4-5 year term, and Toyota/Honda for short- and long-term. Comments? Lastly, whatever happened to Nissan Quest? Endangered specie??? Thanks.

'09 Touring w/ 25L (leather,dual DVD, NAV, power 3rd row) for $28k. Get it? by nm_socal on Sun Dec 28 23:25:38 PST 2008

Greetings, dear friends. Walked into a dealership in Southern California today. Excellent service. No pressure. No "sales" gimmicks. Selected a Touring with package 25L plus AJB (Security Group) and ANF (Premium Group). MSRP: $37,215 Final price being offered: $27,974 Good deal? Go for it? Try to get them to come down a bit more? I was hoping to get the 3yr 0% APR, but they can't offer it with this price. Also, is it worth taking the gamble to see if I can get a better deal in 4-6 weeks? My brother (the "car guy" in my family) is insisting that I consider, instead, an '08 Honda or Toyota, with comparable options. He reasons the Japanese cars will retain more of their value. Please advise. Thanks.

Here's the price breakdown on that model, with the roof rack and Sunburst Orange, in the region where it was built. It might be slightly different in CA or another area. MSRP: $28,310 Preferred Price (Friends) Discount: $2,579 Cash Allowance: $2,500 Coupon: $750 Net Price: $22,481 The Preferred Price discount shown above is just an estimate from a utility I use on an employee website and the actual discount price will be shown on the invoice of the vehicle. In my experience the estimate is usually within $100 or so of the actual price. Since you have a Friends discount code the dealer must show you the invoice if you request to see it. Look for the "PP" Preferred Pricing code on the sheet. That is the same as the Friends price before your $2,500 rebate and $750 coupon are further subtracted from it. The only thing the dealer can add to the Friends price is up to $75 for a doc fee. There are no dealer prep, advertising, etc., fees involved. In some states the TTL is also paid at the dealer, so those would be legitimate charges. Any dealer add-ons, such as stripes or aftermarket tinted glass, would be an additional charge. Since they are transferring the vehicle from another dealer they might be charging you $100 for that service. Here's something I found about delivery fees in the program rules. The $770 delivery fee that is part of the original MSRP is already included in the Friends price. It doesn't really mention the word "transfer", so interpret it however you want to. The participant may not be charged for any preparation fees, delivery and handling charges, service or overhead fees, or any other such delivery fees under this Program. Documentation fees are allowable under the respective governing State in which the vehicle is titled. Documentation fees may not exceed those normally charged on any other sales transaction.
