Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
Is $20,888 a good price in CA (San Francisco Bay Area) for a 2011 Honda CRV LX - 2WD? This is a recall with 1000 mil.
California consumers BEWARE: I received an email offer from Stockton Honda Internet sales (Molida) offering a"Special Internet Price" for a 2011 Honda Insight for $19,719.00 with the price in RED size 48 font. After 3 phone calls and 3 emails, and 2 hours into a 4 hour drive on my way to the dealer for this "special 48 hour" deal they called and said "Sorry, it was all a mistake. We have to sell it for sticker price." Of course the sweet sales girl fronting the deal sounded innocent and apologized that her sales manager said there was no way they could sell it for this price. My assumption is that they could probably do this because in the fine print at the bottom of the offer was a disclaimer saying they were not responsible for "typographic" errors. I'd believe it if the same scenario did not happen the last time we drove to buy a truck. We said we'd go to dinner and think about it and they called and said the manager "okayed" the deal. Is there any reason to trust car dealers when they do this to the public?
Is this a good deal for 2011 CR-V EX-L no navigation? This is in the Bay Area, CA. ------------------------------------------ 0 down 815 (1st month payment + fees) 330+tax monthly residual: 16180.75 ------------------------------------------ Any suggestions to negotiate a better deal will be appreciated.
I have been watching and reading this forum for a while. I wanted to know how much people paid for their EX-L, but I didn't see one. I knew people in other parts of the U.S got great deals. For example, one person posted here on April 10 bought an EX-L in Boston for $31,700. So I tried to get the same deal in the bay area. I went to Hansel Honda and offer them $31,700, but they kept saying that they couldn't sell a car at a lost. They kept saying their invoice is $32,299 and they wanted $500 above their invoice. As I was leaving the sale person came to talk a few more minutes, but I didn't agree to his voice so he slammed my door as he walked away. I just stayed cool and drove off. I wanted the deal because we were leaving the next day for a week of road trip. So we ended up driving our 2003 Odyssey. During our vacation I got an e-mail quote from Kastner Honda for $32,299. I replied to the e-mail, offered $31,700, and got a reply back that he agreed to the price. He told me that he doesn't have the Polished Metal Metallic in stock, but he would try to get it from another dealer. Later that day he said he found one and I can come in two days to get the car. We e-mailed each other the next four days as to when I can come in. The whole time I had my doubt about the deal. I told my wife and my family that I have been dealing with a car sales person just by e-mails only and he agreed to the price. He told me to come and pick up the car after 11 on Friday. I still didn't believe that I can get this deal. We got there and saw the van. He showed us the van. We came to sit down at his desk. He pulled out the sales contract and everything was exactly what he said in his e-mail. We were just shocked. We kept telling him that this has been the best car buying experience we have ever had. Since every state has a different tax rate, registration fee, document fee, and other fees, I like to give a price breakdown. $31,700.00 selling price $ 453.00 CA license and registration ( every year it goes down a little bit) $ 55.00 dealer's document fee $ 8.75 CA tire waste fee $ 3,016.72 CA sales tax $35,233.47 out the door Thank you to all those who have shared. Good luck to future buyers.
On April 16th, 2011 I purchased a 2011 Civic EX Coupe (A/T) with 26 miles on the odometer. MSRP $21,105 Invoice $19,540 I paid $18,228 (including dest.) + TTL I did qualify for the 0.9% financing through Honda Financial and they let me add $2,000 negative equity from my trade in to the loan. After tax, licence, gap insurance ($600), and negative equity I was out of there for about $23k. The experience was rather pleasant and I believe I got a great deal on the car. I wish I would have been able to get a little more for the trade in, but it was a full sized pick up truck with a 5.3 liter V8 with damage to the fender so I can understand not being able to get my payoff for it. If anyone is interested, I bought the car at Spreen Honda in Loma Limda, CA. I would go there again and I would recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a Honda.
