Texas Volvo Car Dealers

ROFL I wish I could have! My dealer had only 5 on the lot and the salesman found nothing in neighboring states and even looked at some dealerships in TX and CA. No one had a vehicle with the options I wanted. The sales manager said vehicles are usually ordered with only one or two option packages because those are in demand. They worry about losing money if a customer doesn't want to pay for an undesired option package on a vehicle on the lot. It's almost silly for individual dealers to have vehicles on the lot though. We buyers have already researched the cars and know what we want. There should be a big parking lot somewhere in the US from which dealerships pull new vehicles. I'd sure give up my Costco card to have my XC60 seven weeks ago.

4mercoachrick, Alex, Thanks for the responses. That helps a lot. I am in Houston, TX - so my experience would somewhat mirror yours' (NYC/Highway and central TX). Aside from the mileage, how has the vehicle been? Any reliability issues or annoyances? Thanks again.

Max, thanks for the physics lesson :) In the real world, there are bigger SUVs than the 60 that get better than 22hwy. I might have thought with the 6-speed, they could have found a few more mpg in top gear. I'm betting 70mph @ 2200RPM could be dropped to ~2K RPM--mayhaps saving a drop or two. We've gone the first 1100 miles of our trip in the last few days. I was sorely disappointed in the sputtering I experienced while driving in the rain(not much of that in TX nowadays). Twice, while accelerating onto the highway, the vehicle sputtered and choked like my old TR-6 with bad plug wires. As I settled into highway speeds, the engine seemed to run fine...but getting on the 70mph highway was an eye-opener! Also, the 'blis' gives plenty of false 'info' when it rains...just the time it might come in handy.

Car_man, Can you please post the Volvo XC90 lease numbers for Feb 2009 and any known incentives? I'm looking at a 2009 3.2 AWD with Climate, Convenience, Versatility, & Premium pkgs. And want to know money factors and residuals on 36 month, & 48 month, 15K/yr mileage leases. Thanks!!!

About a month I bought '07 Sport - Titanium Gray Metallic Climate Tech Convenience 2600 miles (Demo) Sticker of ~$54,500 $45,000 before tax & registration. Traded an S80 w/ $11k allowance. My car may been worth $12k, but it had some cosmetic damage they didn't notice. There may have been some padding in the trade-in value, so I would say the actual price on the XC was $45k to $46k. I searched quite abit (Dallas, TX) and this price was pretty good. It was very difficult to find an '07 Sport (there was $4,000 marketing support plus another $500 if financed through Volvo). They took off $1/mile for demo miles. And then we negotiated some more. I probably could have pushed further on price, but we still had the loan to work through and I got the interest rate I wanted.
