Re: '09 Grand Cherokee Demo [ssjeep] by bytehoven on Mon Oct 19 18:11:18 PDT 2009

I just bought an '09 Grand Cherokee Limited with a $43,160 sticker price. It was one of only (4) units I could find with Quadra Drive II within a 100 miles. Sales Agreement reads as follows MSRP: $43160 Unit Price: $40,000 ($282 below dealer invoice) Trade in Allowance: $21696 Sales Tx: $690 On Line Registration: $8.30 Motor Vehicle Fee: $209.50 Doc Fee: $149 All Rebates: $7500 Net Cash Paid on Delivery: $11860.80 Total discount on Jeep off sticker: $10660 Total price paid for trade in over wholesale value: $3696 I am very happy with the deal. There was a little more wiggle room in the price if I went after some of the dealer hold back, but since they gave me much more for my trade than any other dealer had offered, it was really a wash. A little back story on the trade. I traded a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT 4X4 QC Short Bed with the Hemi. The truck had just under 15000 miles. I could not find a buyer in the paper, even at a wholesale price of $18,000. The next best trade in offer I had was $20500 toward a 09 Grand Cherokee Laredo, and although it had QD II it didn't have any of the other Limited upgrades we wanted. I paid $29000 for the Dodge, so I was able to drive it 3 years for a bit more than $200/month. Not Bad. I would note all of my other local dealers would have needed to trade with another dealer in order to get a Jeep with with features we wanted, causing them to have even less room to negotiate a good price. BTW... If the Jeep as some demo miles, they may give up their hold back, which might range in the $1100-$1500 range depending on the cost of the Jeep. Anything around 24-25% off the MSRP on an '09 is in the ball park of a great deal. Maybe an extra $1000-1500 if the unit has 3000-5000 demo miles. But also consider what you're getting for your trade. Anything over wholesale in this sales environment is a bonus. Personally, I like to buy without having to also negotiate the trade, but I think I did very well on the trade. Regarding 09 inventories... I wonder how many more units are sitting on lots? I'm sure they are trying hard to release them so that they don't have to discount units even more. I have heard stories of '09 Jeeps arriving at dealers every couple weeks, but could not confirm. So it's worth checking your local inventories every so often. Good luck to '09 buyers.

Re: Chrysler Financial Lease Buy-Outs [stljeep] by afleming75 on Thu Jul 30 17:51:44 PDT 2009

Has anyone recently been speaking to Chrysler Lease people about buying out there lease. I am in TX & they quoted me $700 off the residual value & said that was non-negotiable before we even discussed my plans. I called back & spoke to a different rep & he said the same thing. I have a 2006 Commander: Residual is $16,472.50, they offered $15,772.50 I am way over on miles, but I like my Commander & have had 0 issues with it. While the TMV is lower becasue I am over my miles, the value is close. I'm wondering if I am speaking the right person to discuss negotiating further.

Re: Any Good Deals on Overland Model [mikeyp53] by gruson on Thu Jun 25 07:20:17 PDT 2009

Anyone care to post recent deals? I noticed an ad at slickdeals where a Laredo at $31k can still be gottten for around $21k. I am currently looking for a Laredo or Limited (want at least leather, sunroof, and premium audio). If anyone knows of any dealerships around Dallas, TX, let me know! Thanks

Re: 2007 vs 2008 Jeep Patriot [jmorrow] by jefferson1964 on Fri Oct 03 11:01:39 PDT 2008

"Hey Joep5 I sell Jeeps for a living. The lowest price possible is not always the best price. To Answer your question, if the dealer is going to give you invoice (what they paid for the car) that is the lowest price. But let me ask you a question when you buy this car and you have a question about something on your car or you need help with something who are you going to call ( your salesman). Why are you trying to steal from him or her. If the lowest price is 1,000 less that then best price with the best service. Then why would you not pay twenty dollars extra a month for someone to take care of you anytime you have any problems. To be blunt if you can't afford an extra 1,000 or 20 dollars a month you should not buy a car. Have you ever heard you get what you pay for. Buying a car is a big investment not to have anyone to rely on if something goes wrong. In short Pay your salesman if there is worth it don't cry over 1,000 dollars when have a good salesman is worth much more. " Ya got to be kidding...so cuz i need to feel like the sales person will get extra $$$ for his/her service i should not worry about the EXTRA $1,000...yea use that yourself on your home purchase why dont you...same principle...my sales person did wonderful...so whats an EXTRA 10K over a 30 year note...ah who care just give it to them....I dont know about you but 1K just dont grow on trees where i live..i have to work for it..and if I can save it by bargaining a better deal then thats my right to do so...I have only dealt with a sales person ONE time after the sale and NEVER again...the one time i tried on a new honda i purchased the sale person brushed me off and told me to go to the service center...WHY cuz they HAD their money and were done with kissn my rear!!!!!!!! Get in the real world or change jobs.
