No, but I would ask the dealer if he has a car you can use while you wait. That should speed things up a little...

Re: Buying a Scion at less than MSRP: has anyone done it? [harrybush00] by JBaumgart on Mon Jan 09 21:23:32 PST 2006

It seems to me they do everything that all other car dealers do, other than haggle with customers and potential customers...which many customers don't like to do anyway. I can appreciate why tough negotiators (as well as some buyers who don't feel good about a purchase unless they believe they are getting "a deal") don't like this system. But besides simplifying the buying process, the beauty of it is that it makes it so much easier to judge the value of the car, because you know what it's going to cost before you ever set foot in the dealership. If you didn't think it would provide value at its MSRP before you decided to go, you wouldn't bother, and you only need the test drive to confirm what you thought going in. The tC is still in pretty short supply - which admittedly may be somewhat intentional on Toyota's part - but it does show that many buyers do like the car and the buying process. As with any other product, if you don't like the product or don't think it's worth it, you can always say no.

Re: XA v. ECHO [sawyerml] by hal9001 on Tue May 24 13:15:53 PDT 2005

I bought an xA 2 weeks ago and I love it. My experience with an Echo is limited to a rental car I drove around Minneapolis for a week. I really like the hatchback configuration because I can put very large things back there that would never fit in a car with a trunk (even with a pass-through). Also: very nice seats with side bolstering; very good handling for an inexpensive car; excellent sound system. The gas mileage difference is negligible: use synthetic oil, put a few extra lbs. of air in the tires and drive carefully and you will make up the difference. I don't see anything about the Echo that makes it more practical. With the xA you get more useable space, better handling, better looks (in my opinion) and a whole lot of extra equipment for a lot LESS money. Can you say "NO BRAINER" ???
