Buying a car from a Nissan Car Dealer
Sounds like a sweet truck...congrats on your purchase!!
Huh I didn't know they could scam you into paying higher taxes than necessary. Do they only pay what's required but screw you into paying more? I'll have to check the paperwork on the last couple cars I bought and see what they charged me. Do you pay sales tax on the negotiated price including rebates, or not includng rebates?
I don't know anything about the used car market in Alaska. Even so that price seems WAY too high! Print off the used car retail value from edmunds and/or KBB and walk in there and other them your best price, which should be no more than retail edmunds or kbb, and tell them that's your offer. They will either take it or not and if not you walk away. There are plenty of used cars out there, I assume even in Alaska. So don't let yourself get screwed over, because that's about 3 grand overpriced! Good luck! You could probably buy a new one for under 20 grand!
Stopped in at a Chevy dealer to look at Equinox and ened up in the Nissan showroom. Looked at a 2009 Murrano SE Navigation Pkg SL AWD V6 Moonroof Pkg Leather Pkg Premium Pkg Tech Pkg $39,710 $-3500 discount $-1250 rebate $34,960 $200 DMV fees 5% WV taxes They claim the $3,500 is at there cost. Could be...anyway this is there last 2009. Anybody think I can do better? Seems like another $1,000could be in there. No trade or financing.
I don't think the X is a vehicle that really encourages heavy flogging. That being said you need to find out what equipment it has and is it a 4x4 or 4x2. Then price up a new one and compare the prices. If it's a SE model that stickers for 25 grand, then no that's not a good price. If it's loaded and would normally sticker for 30 grand or more, than yes it's a very good price. Also, I think the 09 model has some new equipment standard that was previously optional, not sure exactly. Good luck! Also a good place to check the going market value is just by looking at carmax.com and see what a similar vehicle is selling for, since you know those are eventually selling prices at carmax. If you can get a few grand below carmax prices from a dealer than you're in pretty good shape.
