According to Reuters News on Sunday 2-14-10: ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) – Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) is considering increased incentives and an extended warranty program to combat consumer concerns about a deepening product safety crisis, a source briefed on still-developing plans said on Sunday. Toyota, reeling from its largest recall in history, is discussing a range of options with its U.S. dealers to support sales, including $1,000 in addition to the current $1,000 in cash incentives to returning Toyota customers, the source told Reuters. Toyota's current $1,000 in "loyalty" bonus matches incentives offered by General Motors Co (GM.UL), Ford Motor Co (F.N), Chrysler and Hyundai Motor Co (005380.KS) to lure Toyota customers. Other options Toyota is considering include a free maintenance program -- such as oil changes and regular mile services -- and a new warranty program that at least matches Hyundai's market-leading 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the source said. Satisfied buyer in New Mexico by jbenenson on Mon Sep 07 13:54:20 PDT 2009

I bought my RAV4 Basic from Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe NM. The salesperson was a really good guy -- he's since retired and moved to FL -- as are the financial people and the parts and service people. I did the Clunkers for Cash program: $5000 ($4500 for my '93 4-Runner + $500 dealer incentive) off the $24640 MSRP. There was a small misunderstanding about the financing, but they changed it to give me the lower rate discussed with the salesperson. There was no pressure, no "games", nothing like that from anybody. It's nice to give a positive report on a dealership, but hey, that's Santa Fe. :)

Recent Corolla purchase by kicks66 on Sun Aug 16 10:25:32 PDT 2009

I recently purchased a new 2010 Corolla LE with All-weather guard package, package #1 (cruise & remote keyless entry), & floor & trunk mats. The car also had body side moldings that were added on at the dealer (their retail price for the moldings was $300, but I know their cost is around $40-ish). MSRP: $18249 + $300 moldings = $18549 Purchase Price: $16500 + TTL and I got the dealer to throw in window tint & a trunk cargo net. That price included the $500 rebate. Cash for Clunkers: $16500 - $4500 = $12,000 plus TTL They were going to charge me $350 for a dealer processing fee but then said I could pay the tax (here it's 3%) and license fees at the DMV myself and not have to pay their $350 fee. I paid cash for the car so no financing was involved. I brought print-outs from True Car that they debunked. Then I showed them print-outs from fitzmall.com and an email from a salesperson there verifying the price. They were shocked at the low prices and said different regions get better incentives, but I think they finally believed that dealers were selling this car for much less in other parts of the country. I walked out on the first day because they wouldn't come down any further, but then they called back the next morning and we were able to come to an agreeable price. I'm in NM.

I could not find a dealer in AZ, NM, Vegas or southern CA who would sell under MSRP. I called and emailed about 20. One dealer even said they "weren't allowed to sell under MSRP." So following advice in this forum I emailed Molle Toyota in Kansas city and got the car with absolutely no hassle or even much discussion for $22,389 out the door - a full $840 under the best AZ deal. I will, of course have to pay for tags and sales tax in my home state of AZ. Including a $120 plane ticket, one $65 motel and gas (22.159gal to Phoenix! Wow!) I saved $590 and had a nice break from my normal schedule driving a day and a half back. Scott, the internet sales mgr could not have made the experience easier, quicker or more pleasant - even picking me up at the airport. I was out the door less than an hour after arriving at the dealer. The indicated mileage and actual differed by less than one mpg on 1168 miles - 52.71. Since being home indicated mpg around town is 53.6. Some might say I saved less since I had to drive 1168 miles. But the diversion was worth it, especially since I can now tell the local sales mgr. what I bought it for and hopefully break the dealer collusion for the benefit of other buyers. If you don't mind the drive it would be hard to find a better dealer experience than Molle
