Can Find SE models with ABS/ESC by capella on Fri Dec 05 23:19:24 PST 2008

It's not too hard to find a Focus SE with ABS/ESC although most are automatics and not manuals. Those run around $15K with the current employee pricing promotion. I was looking online for a family member and found a Focus S with AT and ABS/ESC in the Albuquerque NM area. Those I admit are harder to find and run about $1000 less than an SE. But most probably want electric windows, doors, mirrors, etc.

'08 in Albuquerque by pblemel on Mon Nov 19 10:43:36 PST 2007

No one has added anything to this thread in a couple of weeks, but I'll add my experience anyway. Rich Ford in Albuquerque had 6 FEH's as of last Friday when I purchased mine (Z plan). I searched online inventory in NM and CO, and only a few dealers had any at all (of those, most have one or two).

Buying Experience by smocom on Wed Sep 21 11:59:06 PDT 2005

We were at the right place at the right time. Several months ago my wife and I decided that we were going to buy the Escape Hybrid. We were waiting though until she returns from her deployment some time in January. About a month ago I started the process fully aware that I would be ordering the car and probably would not take delivery until January to take advantage of the federal tax break. As I was calling around to find the best price, I eventually called the dealership in Santa Fe, NM. The dealer there had recently received a USED 2006 Escape Hybrid on the lot. The guy who originally bought it apparently had a lot of money because he decided after only two months that he did not like the seat. So he brought the car back, took the loss on the trade in and walked back out with an Explorer. The net result for me is that I picked up his Hybrid at 3000 under MSRP with all of the extras that we wanted save one, which was the safety package. But it also had the navigation system and 6 disk changer that we did not plan on ordering due to the expense. I also sacrificed 5000 miles, but rationalized it by concluding they must have been mostly highway to have been put on in just two months. The savings realized from buying used was excellent, but I have forgone any tax incentives for both this year and next since I am not the original owner. Still, when I consider that I walked away with essentially a brand new 2006 vehicle for 3000 under MSRP for that package, it far outweighs any tax break that I could have achieved for next year or this year. I still have the rest of the warranty too and the car was spotless inside and out. Needless to say our buying experience was quite nice, but highly unusual given the demand for Hybrids these days.

I planned to order a 2005 GT in early April, but after reading that Fords production was way behind and orders may not be filled prior to years end, I decided to look for a comparable V6. After an internet dealers inventory search from Las Vegas, NV to Albuquerque, NM I found a V6 in Serria Vista, AZ with everything I wanted: V6 Coupe Premium, 5 speed manual, satin silver, dark charcoal leather, power drivers seat, 16 bright machined wheels, interior and exterior sport package (I peeled off the door stripes, yuck), passive alarm, window tint, Shaker 500, anti-lock brakes and traction control. The MSRP was $22,355 and the dealer had a $2,000 mark-up on the sticker. After downloading the invoice from Edmunds, I added $500 and it came to $21,500. That was to be my final offer. At the dealer, I test drove the V6 and was really impressed. My 1988 Ranger (bought new) has a 2.9 liter V6 with a 5 speed manual and always had enough power for me. This V6 Mustang had a great sound and a lot more power than I would have imagined. We then test drove a GT. This is the only dealer Ive been to that even had a GT available for a test drive. The GT was awesome, but we passed a cop on the drive and I had to hit the brakes (way too fast a car for me). After the test drives, I told the salesman that if he gave me a smoking deal on the V6, I would write him a check today. He showed me a copy of their invoice and said he would sell it to me for $500 over or $21,585. I couldnt believe it! I showed him my paperwork with $21,500 as my top offer and said if he would match my top we had a deal. Three minutes later he was back and we had a deal for $21,500. A few days later when I picked up the car, I hit the fleet manager up for a case of oil and two filters which he gave to me for wholesale. The whole experience was great, no pressure, very friendly and I think a great deal. If youre looking for a Ford dealer in southern Arizona, I would recommend Lawley Team Ford in Sierra Vista. One week and 2,000 miles later, Ive had no problems with the car. Its a rocket from 65 to 90 and handles much better than I expected. The side window tint does scratch easily and the jack rabbit I nailed the other night at 40 mph didnt help the front air deflector much, but other than that, what an awesome ride!
