Buying a car from a Nissan Car Dealer
Ok, I'm clueless when it comes to this game. I am being offered the following deal on a fully loaded 2007 3.5SE CVT with tech/nav package, spoiler..oh and the dealer tinted the windows (big deal huh?) haha It is the dealer demo and has about 60 miles $400 a month (includes taxes, charged monthly on a lease in NM - approx $30 - so technically a payment of about $370) 39 months $2000 down 12,000 miles per year Does this seem fair compared to what some of you are being quoted? Thank you for ANY help you can give me!
It all depends on what you need to accomplish with a truck. For towing, you can't beat it for the price. It's great for hauling a family of five. It's fun to drive and gets a lot of compliments for its' appearance. As any intelligent consumer would know, the Titan's fuel consumption is high - as it will be for any heavy-hauler. You can't get a lot of power without paying for it. If you don't need power and/or room, consider a smaller (wind cross-section), lighter, weaker (6-banger) truck. That said, the Titan fits my needs perfectly! I'm happy because it does what I want, it's fun to drive, and I can afford to fill the tank. Comments about the interior quality not being good are subjective and silly from my perspective. Our other car is a loaded Volvo XC. These two vehicles should not be compared. From my perspective, trucks shouldn't be luxurious. If that's what you want, you should ask yourself why you're buying a truck. Trucks are meant for utility, to be kicked around. I considered the $40K to $50K trucks with the fancy interiors, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was for the ego-trip types or contractors who live in their trucks and can pay for it with pre-tax income.
Thanks for your assistance but I ended up purchasing one this weekend...I feel good about the price I paid and we plan to hold on to it for a good amount of time, so hopefully I made the right decision to purchase instead of lease...We're very determined people :-) and when I had asked you the question we had already had it set in our minds that by last weekend we were going to be driving a Titan, and sure enough we are :-) so thanks again jgame1122
What does all the residual value and all that mean? Like with the knockoff question on the 06 Titan crew cab le 4wd...over say 24 months what would the payments break down to...And can you bargain the price down on leasing or are you just stuck to what they say and can walk if you don't like it?
You are doing the right thing by doing your research. Don't let the dealers confuse you with their fees. The question you should always ask is "what will I pay for this car?". Think of it this way - does it really matter if you're paying $20000 for the car plus $1000 in fees, or $21000 for the car? Do you really care what they call the fees? NO! So, just make it clear to the salesperson that you want a price that includes everything except tax, title, and license fees. You may have to repeat this several times before they understand the question, as some of them have trouble with it the first time (stuff keeps geting added on later). Make it real clear that ANYTHING other than TT&L that mysteriously appears on the contract later will be a deal-killer. Always remember that these guys are pros, and you're not. Verify everything they tell you. They will take every advantage to get more money out of you. Stand your ground, make it clear that any attempt to add anything on will be cause for you to walk out the door, then do it if you have to. Do not, under any circumstances, start talking about monthly payments or interest rates until you have a firm total price. Geez, I could write a book on this stuff. BTW, I have a friend in So. CA that bought a car from CarsDirect and loved the deal. Just be aware that they actually take ownership of the vehicle, so you are the second owner, if that matters to you. It does not affect the warranty on a Nissan, AFAIK.
