I bought mine about a year ago, but the method I used should still work. Settle on the configuration you want and just email about 6 dealers asking for their best price. Be sure to tell them you are ready to buy from whomever is lowest. When I did this I got the best deals from Wellesley and Seacoast (NH). Good luck..

Sportwagen TDI vs 2.5 S by salzo on Mon Feb 22 10:08:26 PST 2010

Greetings folks... Help me think for a moment... Assuming I don't need touch screen, alloys, and a trip computer, why would I want a TDI over a gas engine (base TDI vs base 'S'). 100k miles in gas car - 11,000 dollars in gas + 20K car = 31000 (25mpg, 2.75/gallon) 100k miles in diesel car - 7800 in fuel. + 25k car = 32800 (37mpg, 2.90 / gallon) So even after Obama benefit, we're about equal after 100K miles. Bottom line - Diesel shouldn't be a "luxury". It should be an engine choice. I ought to be able to get a Sportwagen diesel for not much more than the 2.5L. Am I all wet? Unless I'm looking at 200K miles, why would I want the diesel? Tom

Re: TIGUAN SEL AWD 2010 [greengirl4j] by maxxus on Sun Sep 20 08:09:21 PDT 2009

I think you can get that deal on a 2010. It wasn't too hard to get 675 under invoice, but the dealer will all add in 250-400 in fees. I negotiated that down 50% when I bought my daughters Hyundai - but that was a different situation. The last deal that was offered was ~675 under with no fees, in NH. This was Seasoast VW. I am not aware of any mfg - dealer rebates going on right now, but I get the sense there must be something because they were all willing to go this low. BTW - my config was also AWD. One other thing, if you can find a 2009 they are offering 0% financing/36 mo but not on the 2010.

Re: Used price 2008 rabbit [shay2] by shipo on Thu May 07 19:52:56 PDT 2009

I don't believe that any 2008 Rabbits were sold in the U.S. with 4-Cylinder engines (they were all inline 5-Cylinder 2.5 liter mills). As for the price, I'm thinking that $16,000 sounds more than a bit high given that new 2009 models around here can be had for less money. Best regards, Shipo
