Hope for the best, plan for the worst by longo2 on Tue Nov 17 17:42:39 PST 2009

"Satellite radio, bluetooth, 6 disk CD changer with IPOD interface and SD chip, 115V power supply, pano roof, leather multi-function steering wheel, high quality appearance inside and out, TDI with real world 30's in the city and 50mph highway, well designed controls and performance". You have just listed most of the features of our 2007 Nissan Versa SL. but that's not what I meant when I compared the Jetta to the others in the pack. You see, the current Jetta is almost the exact same dimensions as all it's current completion. Going bigger will get than out of that crowed gang and give them a leg up considering the Polo will be coming in at VW's bottom end and should do well there with the Beetle TDI and Golf TDI in hatchback form . Then the new U.S. built VW model will be free to compete with the most popular and best selling sedan sizes on the road today..the Sonata, Malibu, Camry, and the Accord. (feel free to add all the other ones I have missed) The question in my mind is VW up to the challenge of building a really great selling new, Jetta, (I doubt that's what they will even call it) considering they already have the bigger Passat, a kind of a sales dud, sitting on the showroom floors. Hope your new JSW lasts forever.

Re: Beware Re: Bought a (new) '09 Jetta TDI [longo2] by jswtdifan on Tue Nov 17 17:14:31 PST 2009

Hi Longo - I don't know what you're talking about. While I have no experience with the 2006 Jetta, I did own (and have since sold) a Corolla from that vintage. Now I have the 2010 JSW TDI and it's a world of difference compared to the Toyota. Satellite radio, bluetooth, 6 disk CD changer with IPOD interface and SD chip, 115V power supply, pano roof, leather multi-function steering wheel, high quality appearance inside and out, TDI with real world 30's in the city and 50mph highway, well designed controls and performance. It's clear to me that the 2010 JSW TDI is not "in the same bag" as the cars you listed. The fact that VW lots are empty of this model suggests a lot of others agree with me on this one. I'm glad you're happy with your 2006, but I'd suggest you're wrong to disparage the newest JSW.

2010 Jetta TDI hitting dealers. by gagrice on Fri Sep 25 17:01:23 PDT 2009

Most of the San Diego dealers have a good supply of 2010 Jetta TDI sedans. I don't see any of the new Sportwagens yet. In all SD there is only one Sportwagen gasser listed. I would guess by next week you can get a good buy on a Jetta TDI sedan.

I would say they are dreaming of a sucker walking in and plunking down his hard earned, without researching the auto market. I cannot imagine any car in the USA going for MSRP today. It is a BUYERS market. Even BMW is dealing and being pleasant to anyone that walks through the door. If you are serious and the dealer has something you like. Offer $1000 under invoice and go from there. I know we have about half dozen VW dealers here in SD. All have Jetta TDIs on the lot for sale. The wagons are in shorter supply and would require some squeezing to get to invoice.

Re: Jetta SE 2008 price to buy in Sept in California [fatcat71] by poorprof on Thu Sep 18 23:46:16 PDT 2008

Thats a very good deal. I leased one in SD, the MSRP is 23114, total drive off of $3,150 (2500 cap red) for $220 a month including taxes, so about the same as yours and I worked on this for 2 weeks.
