Eich Mazda in St. Cloud was able to match the price I gave them. I can give you the name of my sales guy if you are interested. Walser and Morrie's prices were waaaay too high, Luther was pretty high, I liked my sales guy at Polar but the best he could was still above 20k. I don't think I directly contacted the other MN dealers (I did anonymously through braggle). Otherwise, the other dealers willing to do 19.5k were in SD, MO, and IL. When comparing MSRPs, the best price was in MO by about $100-$150, plus he offered to go lower after I said no thanks, but St. Cloud is much closer, and they had the color I wanted.

Not a pipe dream. How many dealers are you talking with? I talked to dealers in SD, IA, MO, WI, and IL. I only got 2-3 good prices from all of those dealers. I took those good prices to my local dealers in MN, and only one of those agreed to match it. I'd recommend getting pricing from dealers outside of NC, and then taking the best prices back to your local dealerships. You can also try the braggle feature at www.autobrag.com. I anonymously offered $19500 to tons of dealerships in the midwest, only one accepted, but that was all I needed. You have to be patient when waiting for responses though.

Re: 2010 i Touring Manual sedan [dakenny] by herbench21 on Tue May 26 09:08:25 PDT 2009

Thank you very much for the tip! I got OTD quotes from 2 dealerships here in LV... 1 gave me a really low quote for 2010 GT HB A...lower than the 2009. So i told the other dealership that and he told me that they actually own all Mazda dealerships in LV...and the quote that was given to me was for another car. Not for the car I wanted. He said that sometimes, some salesman would quote you on another model car to get you in the lot. How unfortunate is that?! I'm giving the "honest" guy the benefit of the doubt but I also started asking quotes around SoCal area, so we'll see what happens. We will be going to SD next weekend and one of the cars that I saw is in National City. Hopefully they will be honest with me. Thanks again for your help! Hopefully by next week, I'll be Zoom Zooming like you :)

I don't recall the OTD and would have to hunt down the paperwork but the fees and taxes won't vary based on where you purchase, but rather by where you are domiciled. All dealers in California to my knowledge charge the same $55 doc. fee. Likewise, tire disposal fees are mandated statewide. Sales tax will vary by county and in some cases as in SD county, by city and again is based on where you live, not where you purchase. Total DMV fees can be calculated in advance easily by using the Vehicle Registration Fee Calculator at dmv.ca.gov. Using these tools and Edmunds invoice pricing, you can calculate your OTD for any vehicle with any option combo you choose. Good luck!
