Buying a car from a Mazda Car Dealer
I hope you bought it. I love all 5 of mine.
I live in Las Vegas, NV. On 1/12/2010 I leased the following: 2010 MAZDA CX-9 GRAND TOURING AWD with a MSRP of $39,915 (Options include: REAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, POWER OPEN/CLOSE REAR HATCH and NAVIGATION SYSTEM). My Lease Terms: 36 Months; 15,000 miles/Year; $598/Month; and… $0 (no money) at signing! Sooooo... How did I do??? I can take it! THANKS!
I just bought a NEW 2009 Mazda5 Sport auto trans with only the 1PE "popular equipment package" for 17,400 before tax, reg. and fees. The total out the door price was 19,150.00. So at 17,400 this is significantly below the Edmunds invoice of 18,990. I went through the Costco quote system. They said I could get the Sport Auto trans with no options for 17k even. Though this is nowhere near the Portland price I just read about, it's the best price I could find in N. California. I heard that CA folks buying a car in OR have to register it there for 6 months first??? Though I can buy WA or NV cars with CA smog, I would still have to pay CA sales tax when registering with CA DMV and this negates the advantage. Thanks to all the other folks who post here for helping me know what's reasonable. ;)
The receiver is the hollow, square piece on the hitch that you insert your ball mount into. It "receives" the ball mount. The OEM CX-9 hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver, which is too small even for some bike racks. The receiver cover is a plastic piece with a mazda logo that plugs the receiver opening to protect it from dirt accumulation. I'm assuming you didn't get the factory towing package. I don't know how much Mazda would charge for a factory wiring harness, but you can get one online from etrailer for about $50. If you need a factory hitch, I have an unused one that I just removed that I'll sell you ;)
This forum was a HUGE help in my research, so I thought I'd share my experience with any prospective buyers. It's definitely not the best deal on these boards, but it was the exact car we wanted & low hassle dealing with the internet department via emails. Bought at a So.Cal dealership: 2008 CX-9 Touring 2wd, White, Towing Package, Entertainment Package & Roof Rails. MSRP=$35,785. I negotiated a base price of $30,300 and they worked the numbers so the $3000 rebate was not taxed. Total OTD was $32,807 (7.75% to uncle sam). Like I said, not the best price here, but the exact car we wanted and $5,500 off of sticker isn't too shabby in my book.
