Buying a car from a Infiniti Car Dealer
Did it have the Navigation Package ? Through TrueCar.com, I obtained three dealer prices for a 2010 G37 Sedan x AWD. with Navigation Package, Premium Package, Interior Accent package and splash guards. The closest dealer was 120 miles away(Raleigh NC); the next closest dealer was 242 miles away (Charleston,SC). However, I went to the Infiniti Dealership in Alexandria VA. which was the longest distance (310 miles) but had the best price (2, 250 under Factory Invoice price). I also like the black one, but my wife liked the red one that was in the showroom. Can you guess which one we left with? I saved saved 2,000 by taking the trip tto VA. I also received a good price from Carmax in Woodbridge VA for the vehicle I drove up there. I am 64+ and have purchased many new cars, but this is the first time I have ever left a dealership and didn't feel like I had been taken. Good luck.
I had intended on waiting on a 2010 G37S sedan but with the current incentives on the 2009's I decided to see what kind of deal I could get. I checked locally (Greenville SC) and they had two G37 sedans with the Sport, Nav and Premium packages like I wanted. One was Platinum graphite and one Liquid Platinum. Both had a MSRP of $41525 and included the Sport, Nav, Premium packages as well as the splash guards and cargo net. MSRP $41525.00 Invoice $38015.00 Price OTD including $199 doc fee, $300 sales tax and $41 tag is: Purchase price $34500 The sales manager also gave me a very fair trade for our Jeep. I have 4.99% for 60 months thru USAA but the dealer says he can beat it. Should pick the car up on Sat. since I am out of town during the week. The dealer is Bradshaw Infiniti in Greenville and the sales manager is very easy to work with. They still have the LP G37 with the same equipment as well as two LP G37 sedans with Sport and Premium packages only. We went with the Platinum Graphite. :D
Thanks. What is the dealers name in NC? Smody - I am in SC and would be intersted in this offer as well in NC. Can you email me any specifics? sschilf02@hotmail.com Thanks
OK, busted. It wasn't a straight deal. First trade I've done in almost 20 years of buying cars, but I did it for a number of reasons, even though we got about $1k less than KBB Excellent. 1) It was far from "excellent". 2003 Highlander with 107k miles in very good shape, pretty clean interior but fairly rough paint (including front bumper and filled right quarter), in need of full fluid job, timing belt, brakes and tires (and possible struts in the front, if not shocks all around). 2) I'm a recent MA transplant, and imagine my shock when I find that person-to-person auto sales still fall under the 30-day lemon laws, and apparently a few other headaches I don't need. 3) The other "knucleheads on the phone and in my driveway" issues. Will the dealer make a little money on my trade? Probably. Is it worth it to not have to deal with 1,2 and 3? I think so. I would have saved about $350 in taxes as well, but I won't get started on the joke of government and taxation system that is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As we all know, there are three main variables in the actual purchase cost of a vehicle (purchase price, trade-in allowance and cost of capital). At the end of the day, it comes down to how you did against what's out there. So.... We ended up financing the whole thing, and getting them to buy the rate down to 3.9% - on a $28,900 purchase price and $6,900 for the Toyo. The $27.9k price I mentioned earlier represented the price at a 5.5% rate (60 months), which is still better than we could get with excellent credit, and high balances at credit unions and my bank. When I got home and looked through the paperwork, I found the dealer's "deal recap" sheet in the pile of papers, which the F&I guy mistakenly gave me to take notes (when it was turned over and he thought is was a blank sheet of paper). That's where I found the numbers showing their cost of $26.5k. Again, they made a little money - but I don't begrudge anyone making a profit, and somewhere in the 4-5% neighborhood is fine with me. I may drop the recap sheet on the fax machine adressed to the dealership owner next week to cause some grief for the F&I guy though, because he was a complete sc*mb*g - pardon my French. Not many touchless car washes around here, but luckily one of the few in the state is about 10-15 minutes away. I'm wondering if the Scratch Guard clear makes regular car washes a tolerable (if still not ideal) option??
Hydesmile, call me crazy but I paid almost $800 more for G35 Journey since I couldn't find the right color with all the options I wanted. Even now, it is not my first choice of color. I am in Oklahoma and they are bringing the car from SC on a trailer. My thinking was that, I am getting a very expensive car and if I am not getting something I like then I will always regret about it so.....I wouldn't say you are crazy if you drive to VA and drive back with something you really want. But, may I say if you don't get lot of snow where you live, I wouldn't get a AWD; that is one reason you can't find an AWD in GA.
