Steve, The current money factor in New York and New England is .00060 and the acquisition fee is $650. I completed the deal in the post above and was happy with the results. I purchased my vehicle at Handy Toyota in St. Albans, VT, but I had other dealers willing to match it. Sadly there were others who were still quoting over $300 per month.

Can you walk me through on your Dealer 1 vehicle again please? How did you conclude your price of $32908 was $258 below invoice? I must be missing something here. What was the MSRP, Dealer Invoice (before holdback and financial reserve), and dealer net cost on that vehicle? According to my calculation, the price you got was $293 over invoice. $32908 (offer from dealer 1) - $32615 (invoice) = $293 NADA has a good options calculator. It offers detail descriptions of each option + mfg codes with MSRP and invoice prices listed. http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?l=1&w=20&p=36&f=5010&m=1214&d=19999&y=201- 0&vt=new&s=321469&z=91748&c=20 MSRP INVOICE Base: $28100 $25290 Destination: $750 $750 Pkg #2, LX: $4345 $3476 Navi___NV: $2580 $2085 Moonroof SR: $1050 $840 Floormat, CF: $269 $174 --------------------------------------------------------- Total: MSRP$37094 INVOICE$32615

hi, there, to me , that is really a good deal. I am in the Burlington area in VT and the prices are so high here, I would like to drive to Boston if I could get a price like the one you get. Could you give me more information of your quote and the contact infor of the dealership? Thanks a lot!!

Re: 2009 Highlander Hybrid Limited [car4us4] by boston26 on Wed Oct 01 04:42:18 PDT 2008

I was in the same boat back in February, 2008. Wanted navigation and DVD. But, the problem is, there are very few vehicles that comes with both - especially the DVD entertainment system. To give you an idea, New England (MA, RI, NH, VT, ME, CT) gets only 9 hyhi limiteds with that configuration in every 2 months. Dealers don't give you much price leverage on these vehicles. I compromised on the DVD and siddenly, I was able to get the car for invoice price. You should be able to get below invoice price now for sure if you made that compromise. I know, I know, its difficult to compromise.... But that's probably the best way to get the best deal. Good Luck!

08 XLE AWD, EVP 3 in NJ by viper2 on Sun Aug 17 05:05:06 PDT 2008

Good morning. A few days ago, I bought an 08 Artic Frost Sienna XLE AWD with EVP 3, JBL, rear sonar, and the usual misc. options for $34,2XX, plus tax and 331.50 DMV. No doc fee. I just paid the 331.50 upfront and financed the rest at 0% for 5 years. The monthly payment came out to 611.38. The MSRP is just a shade under $38,000 (maybe 37,980, I don't have the sticker in front of me). I could have saved close to $2000 by going down to Fitzmall for a different color but the Mrs. insisted on the pearl white and I didn't really have the time to take an entire day to take the train down there and drive back up. It probably takes a good 3-4 hours each way. Ftizmall does offer to pick you up at Union Station though. I don't know how those guys make money. Or maybe the economics are the same for most big dealers and the ones around here are making a killing. Not sure ... Over $1000 of that $2000 difference is due to cars down in Maryland not having JBL and some of the other misc stuff that NY/NJ cars tend to have (and the extra charge for the color). You guys that live near MD are really lucky. The real price difference is about $700. Fitzmall is selling their 08 cars for $700 under invoice plus $100 doc fee. I got my car from a broker who charged $100 over invoice with no doc fee. I had the car delivered to my apt and the papers were signed in 10 mins. No waiting around at the dealer for the finance manager, being asked to buy undercoating from the girl in the tight shirt, being introduced to the service manager and all that stuff. The guy told me that I'd be getting a survey in the mail from Toyota. I was bracing myself for the usual "We need all 5s. A 4 is a failing grade for us." He just told me to toss it. He said he buys his cars from the owner of the dealer and that stuff doesn't affect him. As for the car itself, I like it so far. The steering is definitely lighter than my Tribeca's and it doesn't tell you much but it's quiet, there is acres of room, and the ergonomics seem to be better. I'll be a happy owner as long as the tires behave. I've read all the horror stories on runflats here on Edmunds and on Tireack. I really wanted the FWD to avoid the runflats (it's not like we live in VT or CO and need the AWD) but wife happy, life happy. Thanks and good luck to those still looking. If you can wait, the 09 model year should really offer up some good deals. It's the last year for the current generation of both the Odyssey and the Sienna. I'm sure the rebates on the 09 cars will be ridiculous soon enough. Peter
