2008 Outback 2.5i Limited w/VDC by mikgars on Sat Jul 25 03:43:01 PDT 2009

Edwards Subaru in Council Bluffs IA has a 2008 Outback 2.5i Limited w/VDC MSRP on link through Subaru website is 28771 however they have tacked on an additional $999 and advertised MSRP, in their email to me, at 29770. Their super-duper low price was approximately 5500 off their 29770 price. So in reality about 4500 off MSRP. They did not provide any further info and I did not pursue the matter as 4500 off MSRP is kinda lame. Better deals on '09's are readily available. The other dealership never responded to my emails, and again, I did not pursue the matter. I have put off my purchase once again due to my '07 being in the shop, this time to get the fuel pump replaced a second time. Once I trade this in do yourselves a favor and do not purchase a copper red CX-7 GT with the tech package it may have been mine and believe me you will want nothing to do with it.

I hope the salesman got his cut, though... by jad376 on Thu Feb 12 10:24:05 PST 2009

Here's the thing. We had a really un-salesmanlike salesman who traded emails with me for weeks before we met him. When my wife and 25-year old son arrived with me, he told us he was "the biggest Subaru geek" around, and asked to drive us around in a Forester for half an hour just to show us what it could do. I was nonplussed, but after that 30 minute drive...I learned things about the car (and my other Subarus...) that no other Subaru dealer told me. For instance, I was NEVER informed that our 4-speed automatic transmissions had three modes. 1) Regular Drive; 2) Sport Mode (shifts at a higher RPM) 3) Manual Mode (when you click it over to sport and then shift it, like Tiptronic). I never was bothered to read the manual because I'm not a gearhead. Also, the drive-by-wire system and the actual brake force distribution, more specifically how it feels - were lost on me before the first half of our drive. Now, you might think this was strategy on his part to assure the price would go up...well, maybe reassurance that his final offer was worth paying. The only additional money they are requesting I spend is $500 for a remote-starter. I assume the salesman would get a bonus...and with the dark interior, on a hot day a remote starter might be a good idea. Who wants to get into a blast furnace? Anyone got any tips on financing? I have Tier IA credit and currently lease two Subarus.

Looking to Lease or Buy a 2006 Legacy GT by shortbusspecv on Wed Apr 05 16:05:05 PDT 2006

Ok.. here is what I'm looking at.. probably 500 under invoice. Purchase price of 27,356. I am curious first if the 1,500 incentive is still appliable for leases. I am looking for a few options on the leases.. all with 15k in miles. I know they have very aggresive terms on one particular program (often 39mo). I just want to have 36 and 39 months figured. One with first payment due up front. One with 2,500 down up front. What would the payments look like on this? And again, I want to know if those rebates count on leases. THANKS!

which way do I go? by justlookin3 on Fri Mar 24 04:38:52 PST 2006

At this point I do not have written quotes. The biggest difference between the demo and the new Tribeca (both with navigation systems) is the mileage. Demo has 5000 miles, while other does not. The salesman at the dealership with demo has offered "no more than $32K", in his words "under invoice" for that one. It is still considered new and would have full factory warranty. The other dealership started the negotiating at approximately $34,500, which I believe is over invoice for the Tribeca with navigation and no miles. I guess my real question is whether the fact that one of the vehicles has 5000 miles on it is relevant. All 3 dealers are in the central IL/IA area. I'll see if I can get detailed quotes on all 3 and post then.
