That is not all the uncommon with high demand vehicles. I bought my 2005 Passat TDI for well under invoice in Oregon. The dealer here in San Diego that serviced it offered me more than I paid when it got to 7500 miles. I ended up selling it for $3000 over my total OTD price. No tax in Oregon and I licensed it to my residence in AK. If I were you and you have extra cars I would sell and make a good profit. If you live in a state that taxes new cars you are probably screwed. Otherwise save the money and wait for the 2010 models to go on fire sale next winter.

The TDI Jettas are commanding OVER msrp, personally I would buy a Corolla or Civic before I paid over MSRP for a Jetta. If I HAD to have one I'd buy in the lower 48 and ship or drive the car back, MUCH cheaper than buying up here. We only have ONE VW dealership and they take advantage of that fact. I went one time to look at a Jetta there (when there was one other dealership) and the salesman told me that the price was MSRP + the $3k markup. I walked immediatly and bought the car at the other dealer for under invoice. Just amazes me what people will pay for these cars. Yes, they are nice, but not THAT nice.

Passat CD offering by vwguild on Thu Nov 30 04:21:35 PST 2000

AK, VW offers it's customers a choice... single disc in-dash or Six Disc changer...both are Dealer installed options. In Europe, and on the Autobahn speed rules...no time or place to messing with CDs and the European mentality rules at VW. You may have noticed a small grid opening by the map lights...that is for a *mic* for a cell phone; in Europe it is against the law to drive with a cell phone stuck to the side of your head. It is also against the law to drink in your car, which is why ALL of the European cars do not boast 14 cupholders. As a retired Calif. Paramedic I can tell you that the first thing a medic checks at the scene of an MVA is the airway...coffee stirrers, big hunks of a BIG Mac, you name it they are there, and that is at 65/75...Imagine changing a single CD at 120 MPH...I wouldn't...
