RLs are being discontinued according to my dealer - -and why not? You can get a TL with SH-AWD now. Acura going for a higher end flagship to compete with Lexus. Grab one now - they are sweet cars and you can get bargains. Just bought used 2008 with 18K on it for $26k. Carbon Gray Pearl/Taupe interior, 5/80K extended warranty. Immaculate. Love it - handles great, and cruises at 90 ... Read More
Thanks Jensad. Appreciate your post. I am waiting till March to make a deal. As there might be some Incentive on the 2011 as 2012 expecting new styling. On the 2011 they only have 2500 dealer incentive. Also seeing some 2010 RL's on the lot. Will keep you posted.
Hi capr This my way of negociating with dealers. It may not fit you or other readers. I hope it helps you. I buy a new car about every 8-10 years. However the 08 RL I bought was purchased in late Feb of 08. That is because sometimes dealers get a little jumpy at the end of the month due to quota considerations. First i sent emails to all the dealers ... Read More
Hi, Seems not much activity in this thread. Anyone recently bought an RL. I am planning to get 2011 ACURA RL in dallas Heard it is changing body style in 2012, but seems the best AWD in this class. Appreciate feedback. Capri
Hi gb350. Is the 2011 RL at dealers yet? The last time I checked, Acura hadn't published a lease program for it. Here's the numbers for the 2010 model, in case you're interested. Honda Finance's September buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 RL Tech with 15,000 miles per year are .00100 and 44%, respectively assuming that you qualify for its top ... you know, I can understand them holding off with the reintroduction of the NSX because that obviously would be a extremely expensive sports car but I don't know how much longer they can wait for a RWD/V8 platform! they really need to add one to the RL so that it can compete completely with its other American, Japanese, and German competition! the V6 RL should slate in price between 42-50k with ... Just turned in my leased 06 RL and picked up my new 2010 RL ...... got tired of waiting for Acura to make up their minds about powertrain specs ...... my decision was also prompted by info that I got from Car & Driver ....... supposedly Acura was very serious about V8/RWD pkg until the economy tanked and they got real cold feet about introducing a 70k high tech / high ... Hi, does anyone know anything about the 2011 RL that is to debut here in the US later this fall? I've been told by others that Acura is NOT going to be putting in a RWD/V8 platform on the RL now? can anyone confirm this for me, because I thought Acura was still going ahead with it!
You can get the Japanese-market Honda Legend grille right now, provided you don't mind having the Honda H in the middle instead of the rather similar Acura A. (The RL is sold in Japan as the Honda Legend.) It looks much, much better than the U.S. snaggletooth.
I sat in an 2010 Acura RL and found the seats too hard, especially in the thigh support area. The TL seats are better, softer but still supportive. I hope Acura puts somewhat cushier seats in the upcoming 2011 generation. I found the seats in the previous generation (2004 and earlier) better, not nearly as firm. Seat comfort is critical for me in a car, ahead of all other factors.
On RL you need extended warranty, the parts are EXPENSIVE. I bought additional "pre-certified warranty" from the dealer when my 05 RL was 35000, the warranty runs to 98k / 2011; my AC ring developed a leak and the repair bill (covered) was $900. Overall, Acura has been good to me, if the problem they "fixed" showed up again, they would pick up the bill. Hourly charge at the dealership is ... Read More
Looking for a 2009 RL in New Jersey. I am hearing the same MSRP nonsense. They also killed the residual on the leases. It does not really seem like Acura wants to sell these cars. They have curtailed production significantly, so there just are not that many of them around. I guess they are putting their eggs in the TL basket until the next generation RL arrives in 2011 or so. ... Read More
BBRIMMER, The condition of the 2004 RL would have to be spectacular to even consider the choice to begin with. Having said that I have driven the new 2008 Accord and thought it to be an excellent car. It has Acura all over it. My wife and I have owned Hondas since '83 and Acura's since '96. Personally I would lean heavily toward the new Accord in this case. Good Luck. ... Read More
No RL hybrid. I could see diesel as a future engine choice. I know it has its fair share of haters though. The new diesels are in a different league than 30 years ago. Honda thinks small cars should go hybrid. The 2011 RL will get the v8. I'm sure the IMA could be adapted to a v8. It depends on how they designed the engine bay. The previous accord had ... Read More
Next RL will get a v8 for the first time. The 09 TL will actually rival the 09 RL. The new TL will have features that will rival the 09 RL. The 09 RL will have to soldier on until 2010 when the MY11 RL will come out. The 09 TL looks like a current 2 Door civic mixed in with Camry. Does have a grill similar to the 09 RL ... Read More
Hi rv65, Thanks for your info.. I cut/paste the followings directly from Edmund about Y2011 RL for your reference ...pretty new stat. (BTW, if you're into "Power-Toy" and "Hot-Hatch", check out '08 Mazdaspped-3 (Car & Driver 10-best)....0-60 in 5.4sec., 263hp w/280-torgue - even bigger torgue than RL, TL, Infiniti-G, Lexus-IS, VW-GTI....etc.; I test-drove one, fantastic acceleration and built very very "tight", relatively quiet when crusing, best of all - under $25K ... How well I recall the apochryphal stories circulated in 2001, 2002, 2003, etc, as to when the new RL would appear!! It took nine years to present us with the 2005 RL.Now, new predictions are sounded, some as early as this May - I would be hesitant to pin my hopes on this early date. My dealer has referred to 2010 and 2011 as likely dates for the new RL to ... Read More
If 2009 is when Acura completely redoes the RL I might want to wait but if it is 2011 or so I might want a 2008 with the dealer incentives making it a much better buy than previously. Anyone know their makeover plans? Lee
JJ: Essentially, a hybrid benefits the ecology but damages the pocketbook. If Acura was to turn out a hybrid luxury performance sedan, imagine the implied cost. You and I particularly, would desire the new technology package, the cost of which, in combination with the added hybrid technology, would by 2011 no doubt exceed $65K or even $70K. Conceivable? The added MPG savings would recede far into the background, ground to dust ... Read More
I believe I read in the current issue of Motor Trend (Sept.) that Acura will introduce a V-8 for the RL in...2011.
My friend Acuraphile...I will no doubt replace the RL before 2011 and have no problems with the VTec 6. It is a great engine. I'm wondering though, in light of what I paid for a full tank of gas about 1 hour ago, whether or not Acura will bring to us a Hybrid Luxury Performance sedan? (Or does the term "Performance" necessarily negate a Hybrid potential.) Any thoughts on that subject? ... Read More
