Thank, It's Toyota Sunnyvale.
Yes, price has gone up. I just got Prius III around $25K with basic options. Try truecar.com for comparison. Which dealership is that? I bought from Toyota Sunnyvale which seems to be fair and reasonable.
Hello, I am looking at Prius II in No calif. I was quoted $23,500. Is it a good deal? I was quoted $22750 about a month ago and but couldn't pull the trigger. Does Toyota have any financing option? Thanks
Just bought a 2011 Prius 3 last seekend. Bought it through the Costco program at Hollywood Toyota. Got $500 of the list of $25240. From what I hear, because of the potential shortage most dealers are doing full list or more. Talked to my salesman 1 week later and they have discontinued the Costco discounts. They normally have about 150 Prius in stock, but are down to less than 70.
Having just leased a III with NAV this past weekend here in LA, I would say you would be fortunate to get one for $400 with tax. Also, something you may not know, but Toyota doesn't include GAP insurance in their leases...you need to buy it in the finance department (or maybe your insurance company can cover you)...they charge about $15-17/month for that...so tack that on to the above payment. Good ... Read More

The basic design of the 2011 brake system is the same but you don't know what they may have done internally to the parts or software. The Toyota service part number for the 2011 is different than the 2010.
For those of you that don't know, Toyota changed the brake system for the 2010 model year to a completely new design. You can't compare it with previous model years as the system works differently. I have driven the 2010 Prius before and after the software "fix" and agree the problem was not fixed. I also think it is interesting that there are over 800 brake related complaints filed at NHTSA ... Read More
Hello Carman, I want to lease a 2011 Prius in the Atlanta market. I would like a 3 year, 12000 mile, $0 down lease for a Prius IV. I would be appreciative for information on what I should pay per month for this? Also, I wondered what the current Toyota money factor rate would be for this lease along with the Residual? I am finding that the dealer seems to want ... Read More
Hi Walt, I was wondering if you might be able to give me some information on the Prius lease special that is currently advertised on the 2010 Prius. Is it better to take advantage of this deal or wait on the 2011 since the residual will be higher? Is it on all Trim packages? I would probably want the V trim package but not any options since Toyota doesn't residualize them. ... Read More
I'm ready to purchase a 2010 Prius II with no extras. Current price in the forum is around $21,450, or around $750 below invoice. Toyota is also offering 2.9% APR for 60 months with 2 yr free maintenance. I'm wondering if the price on 2010s will drop further after the release of the 2011 model ? Should I go ahead and buy them now or wait till October ? Thanks for ... Read More
It is now going to be end of this year for 2011. Since it was launched early 2010, that is almost two years for 2010 MY. I am wondering, with Nissan Leaf and GM Volt coming out, will Toyota add Plug-in to 2011 as a surprise?!
Just curious where you heard this about sunroof. I am shopping for Prius now, willing to pay for BlueTooth and better sound system but don't want Nav, etc. that comes with sunroof. I don't know if my current car will last me through Oct. though! Thanks.
Oct. 2010. Rumored to be able to order sunroof w/o having to purchase all the extra bs.
you might want to think if it is just a software problem with the brakes then all a car would need is a software update just like a computer does. Since it was just redesigned, I don't believe Toyota would have had the time to develop a new regen braking system, test it out, manufacture it, and have them ready for 2011. So whether you get a 2010 or 2011 it ... Read More
Anyone? June, September ,December? I'm trying to plan the selling of my car and I want a 2011 Prius - gotta think the problem w/ the braking s/w would be resolved w/. the new models rather then getting a 2010 today. Thanks
Does anyone know when the 2011 Prius will hit dealers? Is it a safe bet that all 2011 with have the brake s/w fix? Thanks
There's a fix for the 2010 Prius brake software, so don't let that stop you from a test drive. I am not going to test drive a car that I have little chance of buying. I don't have the time, and I don't want to waste time of the VW salesperson. If my local dealer ever offered an open house to test drive the new Golf, I might take advantage of ... Read More
technically you have a great point backy ! The sample size of usa golf tdis is necessarily small so far. Let's hope there will be lots more for 2011 model year. There are probably just a few hundred Golf TDI in the USA now? Maybe each dealer gets ... Read More
There have been a number of problems like this reported over the years. I had to have a new screen/odometer installed, a new fuel line and gas tank, and a few other major TSB's, all under warrantee. A number of Prius' just stopped on the highway (software/sensor problem) but I have not had any problem that wasn't already a TSB. I am waiting until the 2011 or late 2010 for a ... Read More
According to Japan’s Nikkei, Toyota has put its U.S. Prius production plans on hold. The most popular hybrid in the world was slated to begin production in Mississippi in 2010, but those plans have now been pushed back to 2011 at the earliest. http://www.leftlanenews.com/toyota-delays-us-prius-production-plans.html Why should it make any difference where the Golf is built? It doesn't in general. The only thing about where the Golf is built that is relevant ... Read More
I think you are trying to play verbal games which is fine. But I don't see any data that says Toyota will build anything in their Tupelo plant in 2011. All I see is it is on hold. June 10, 2009 Toyota broke ground on the $1.3 billion Tupelo plant in 2006 to produce Highlander crossovers. Last summer the automaker delayed the project and then later changed plans to produce the ... Read More

As for Toyota closing its NUMMI plant after GM pulled out of the partnership... what does that have to do with the Prius vs.Golf? More than once Ahnold begged Toyota to build the Prius in CA the largest buyer of the model in the USA. The new Tupelo plant will not likely see the Prius. Folks like dewey and John1701a probably finds counterpoints absolutely galling !! I am sure they would support the concept of an ANTI diesel CZAR !? The edmunds.com piece indicates there might be an app $7,000 premium over the Jetta TDI (certainly there is a range). @2.93 (current diesel prices vs RUG @3.07) , that $7k premium would buy 2,389 gals of D2 fuel, or @ 40 mpg, 95,563 miles more. Toyota just released the new V9.1 DVD map disc. I picked up mine for $199! I bought one 2 years ago for $265. I also got the part numbers for all of the Prius years: Toyota Part # Part # disc Year 86271-GEN04-09 86271-33049 2004-2005 86271-GEN05-09 86271-53024 2006-2009 86271-GEN06-09 86271-73011 2010-2011
I for one am looking forward to the roll out of the GTD either the 2010/2011. Initial indications are @ $18,000. Till that time the only thing that is close and might be off topic is the 2009 Jetta TDI. While we get 39-45 mpg, that has been in break in mode . In some respects the engines (Prius/TDI) are not in the ball park. As such, the reality is more ... Read More

VERY COOL news This is very cool news. Today at the North American International Automotive Show, in Detroit, Toyota announced that later this year, it will release a version of the Prius hybrid car whose battery can be recharged from an ordinary power outlet. By moving up the delivery data of the plug-in vehicle--originally scheduled for 2010--Toyota has slipped ahead of GM, whose Chevy Volt plug-in is promised for late 2010. ... Read More
I agree but for those who are desperately seeking a plugin it's not too much of a stretch if the warranties are similar in length. The Volt has already been announced at coming to market in the $40000 range. But....there's a huge unmentioned factor in this. GM has been working the halls of Congress to get a significant tax break credit for all plugins and EREVs. By announcing that they plan ... Read More
The 2009's are being built now, today. They are exactly the same as the 2008's. The Chairman of Toyota will introduce the new Gen 3 Prius at the NAIAS in Detroit in January. The 'line off' of this vehicle in Japan will be April 2009 as a 2010 model. Normally it should arrive here in Summer 2009. It will have NiMH battery technology in the first year or two. Then... if ... Read More
Toyota is notoriously zipped-lipped about new offerings unless it suits their purposes to generate new interest. The Prius has a very very loyal owner/fan base that's chomping at the bit to get some tidbit of real data on the next generation. All that Toyota has said is that they decided to delay implementation of the Li-Ion batteries until more validations could be done. I believe that they stated these would be ... Read More
Why drop it? I thought I saw where Toyota planned for every vehicle in the lineup to have a hybrid option by 2011. I'm waiting on the Sequoia with a diesel hybrid system. Hope they are listening. I'll put money down now.
Friends: This does not seem to make sense. New cars are going for $21-25k, while used ones from 2004 with comparable options are being listed in autotraders within $17-22k range. This makes the 3-yr residual for cars bought in 2004 at over 80%. That seems believable for a Toyota (or a Honda for that matter). But why is the residual value on new Prius's as low as 52-54% (as reported by ... Read More

I think 2010 or later is more realistic. Few reasons. (1) Upcoming hybrids (TCH, Sienna, RAV4, Sequoia?, 4Runner?) will eat up all capacity/manpower of Toyota suppliers. So very tough to introduce another technology/platform. Not to mention potential quality problem. (2) Even though Prius II is 4 years old, it is still new in much of Asia/Europe who are paying $$$ for gas. So what Americans don't buy Asians/Europeans will gladly buy ... Read More

I found the following on the CalCars website: The [Prius] redesign is likely for the 2010 or 2011 model year. The next generation probably will have plug-in capability, as in letting you plug it in to your house's grid to recharge and allowing you to drive on full electricity for the first 40 or so miles. It also may have a rheostat so drivers can select a performance or fuel-economy mode. ... Read More
