Acceleration comments | Doesn't like pedal overlap (too long) or wheelspin (too much) for best launch. Gearing seems awfully tall, but the engine still seems to pull regardless. Every shift occurred at redline and the transmission auto-upshifts in Manual mode at WOT. No rev-matched downshifts in Manual mode. |

Braking comments | Good medium-firm pedal effort from first to third stop, then became slightly softer without increase in distance. Good initial bite from brakes (pretty aggressive, in fact) and good effectiveness throughout stop -- even from 30-0 where some cars like this trail off. |

Handling comments | Skid pad: Moderate understeer at limit with stability control (ESC) off (which it isn't totally). Steering feels appropriately weighted and actually delivers some relevant info regarding tire grip. With stability control on, I detected some brake intervention followed by throttle closing to keep the car on line. Slalom: Very little delay in the steering response for good turn-in, but man, does this car lean over. A bit of a surprise, then, that it transitions so well and doesn't grow progressively late for the next cone. Just as things get interesting with the first hint of understeer, the ESC grabs the brakes in both on and off ESC modes. Still, this is a big improvement in terms of feel and precision over last 300. |
