The redesigned 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid offers sporty looks, plenty of standard features and a fuel-efficient powertrain. It should be a top choice for a 2011 hybrid family sedan.

The 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid is an all-new model.
Kia has entered the green game for the first time with the all-new 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid. As with most of the 2011 Kia models, the Optima is all-new, featuring the same sharp style as its stablemates. Mechanically, it's related to the similarly new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
Details are still forthcoming, but we expect the Optima Hybrid to have a 169-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and a 40-hp electric motor. Total combined output is said to be 209 hp. Fuel economy should also be similar to the Sonata's, which means the Optima could have approximately a 38 mpg combined EPA rating.
The 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid is expected to go on sale in the fall of 2010. We've yet to drive it, but check back later in the year for a full review with complete buying advice and driving impressions.
