What's New for 2011

The 2011 Audi Q3 will be an all-new small crossover.

Introduction

Designed to satiate the appetite of the marketplace for more fuel-efficient sport-utilities, the 2011 Audi Q3 compact crossover is expected to go on sale in 2011. It will slot below the small Q5 and appeal to those seeking a premium road-going SUV experience in a nimbler package.

Designed to do battle with segment competitors like BMW's forthcoming X1 and the Mini Countryman, the Q3 is described by Audi as a "coupelike five-door SUV with seat positions, wheel size and ground clearance characteristic of a typical SUV." We expect the 2011 Audi Q3 to offer one or more flavors of four-cylinder motivation and both front- and all-wheel-drive variants. The intention, however, will almost certainly be oriented more toward an engaging and refined on-road experience than any useful off-road capability.

With the momentum Audi has in the marketplace right now, it's a safe bet that the 2011 Q3 will be a wholly competitive segment favorite. Check back later for a full review and see if Audi's latest niche play comes up a winner.
