IMO, the E class is between the LS for luxury and amenities and the 5 series for performance. Best combination of both worlds. That makes sense. Actually the one area where the new 5 seems to be a disappointment compared to its predecessor is performance. It's heavier, and while the N55 is a more advanced engine than the N54 in the old 535i, it hasn't made the car any faster. The ... Read More

You know, I love my 2009 A4 and it is a better PERFORMING car than the outgoing 2005 A6. But, tho I live in a BIG TOWN (or small city, Cincinnati), I just can't really use the performance the Audi offers. Imagine how I feel with 10 cylinders, and no autobahn to use them on. The Audi quaterly magazine says a minor facelift for MY 09 and a new car for MY 2011. However, based on prior releases, the new A6 will be released the year after it is released in Europe. So the new A6 will hit the US in MY 2012.

In 2000, I picked up an A6 4.2 quattro sport -- it was a 2001 model. It had -- heck it was an alphabet soup of TLA's like ESP, APC, ETC, TCPIP, ABS, and a partridge in a pear tree, it had sat nav and a hands free factory phone for what that is worth (with a directory, phone book and so on), too. Now, the gov says "ESP" is a ... Read More
