Could anyone help me find out what sort of data is stored by an Audi A6 on the onboard computer? I am not familiar with the A6, but I expect that, for diagnostic purposes, a lot of data is continuously recorded and is available to garages when they maintain the vehicles. For example, is the total weight of the car recorded regularly? And does the car record, for example, the opening ... Read More

Hello joelk01. Let's crunch some numbers and see what we come up with. According to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2011 Audi A6 3.0T Premium Plus with quattro that has an MSRP of $53,125 and a selling price of $50,125 through Audi Financial Services right now for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $668. ny thoughts about waiting for the new 2011 A6 vs 2010 I would definitely suggest that you wait for the C7 car. While I'm sure the 3.0T engine will just carry over, the rest of the car is going to be significantly improved. The new platform means better weight distribution, and with Drive Select and the S4's rear diff, handling should be much better. Audi also really has to deliver on ... Read More
I am coming to the end of my 36 month A6 lease in 1 month. I have always told people that you don't lease to buy and you should do either or. But now I have a choice to make. My residual is $25,450 and in looking for a new car and choosing between another A6, BMW 528 and a MB 350. The A6 and BMW are coming into a a ... Read More
and I do believe that the B8 still has a much nicer interior than the current 3 series (and 5 series even). Mmmm.. I'm not sure on that one. I haven't spent any time in a new 3 or 5, but at least as far as appearance is concerned, I think the 2008+ 5 series looks significantly richer and more upscale than the B8 A4. I didn't like the initial '04 ... Read More
The Audi A6 is okay, but it should really be rear-wheel drive. Then it wouldn't be an Audi. Aside from class leading interiors, Quattro (the real torsen full-time system, not the Haldex slip-induced setup used in the VW platform mates) is what makes Audis what they are. The next generation A6 due in 2011 I believe should be superb. I'm a big fan of the Infiniti M, and I think the ... Read More
hey andy, it was santa monica audi's fleet manager. but i believe the deal ended september 2. selling price before tax was $38750. could you clarify what you mean by "Especially since in 2011 a new a6 is to be released." Does the release of a new version in a couple years mean its good or bad for getting an 08??
As a 2008 4.2 Sline A6 owner, I can't say I agree totally with the article. The 4.2 has plenty of power on tap. Sure, maybe less off the line that others, but it's always a losing propostion to defend testing 2wd vs AWD cars and then complaining about how the AWD aren't as fast...no kidding! I'll be happy to give up a few tenths to avoid sliding around on a ... Read More
Audi has traditionally gone with a 6 or 7 year cycle. Since the C6 came out in 05 has not yet even seen a mid-cycle refresh, I don't think we are going to see the C7 A6 until MY 2011 at the earliest.
Infiniti, last time, actually got a $1,500 deposit out of me, a sold order car and I almost left Audi -- they simply came back, from out of no where and a car that had been almost $200 per month more was reduced in price to LESS than the Infiniti. I had NOT been happy with the fact that both BMW's 5 and Infiniti's M were "as high or higher" in ... Read More
It's a mixed blessing for Audi. BMW's have inflated residuals most of the model year. BMW is very dependent on the US market for the 5 and 7 series, and they need to push these cars. They really have become the General Motors of the German car market. Many people are not leasing a BMW because it's the Ultimate Driving Machine. It's more like the "Ultimate Lease Deal" It's hard to ... Read More
The Audi quaterly magazine says a minor facelift for MY 09 and a new car for MY 2011. However, based on prior releases, the new A6 will be released the year after it is released in Europe. So the new A6 will hit the US in MY 2012.
