If memory serves, you have to be north of 740 to be considered "top tier". I'd come to the table with financing ready. Consider hitting up a credit union. They are offering the best rates right now. That way if 1.9% can't be gotten through VW, you have your backup.
I am looking to buy a 2011 GTI 4door DSG and was wondering what credit score i would need to land the 1.9% financing offered by VW. I'm right around 700. Can anyone here help?

Car_man, I'm interested in leasing a 2011 GTI with DSG and Sunroof. Could you please provide me with the money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease with 10k miles per year? Hello all, I'm looking to lease a 2011 2D GTI Autobahn but was wondering if you guys could help me with choosing between a regular lease and the Driver's Option program. I'm in Texas which makes leasing not that attractive, since we get taxed on the cap cost and essentially adds another $50/month on the lease. VW wasn't too clear on their website about the Driver's Option, but what I've been ... Read More

Welcome rfeiz. As bds mentioned, Volkswagen definitely provides incentives on the GTI. You can finance a 2011 GTI through Volkswagen Credit right now at 2.9% for up to 5 years. It's also running a special 36- month lease money factor of .00122 on this car right now. That's equivalent to an interest rate of just under 3%. Having said that, this car doesn't exactly have huge dealer margins. The model that ... Read More

First of all, the guy's snowing you. There are absolutely incentives on the GTI, right here for example: GTI incentives When I bought mine a few months ago (also in SoCal), many dealerships had a ton of GTIs and couldn't get rid of them all. I would recommend shopping around aggressively via email -- you can go to edmunds.com or a dozen other websites and send emails to 5 dealers at ... Read More

Will VW dealers be willing to swap the stock 18" wheels on the 2011 GTI for 17" wheels? I will likely be leasing, so selling the 18s myself is not an option. Is VW offering 17" wheels as an option. 18s seem extreme as the stock tire, especially in the North East.

John, You are correct of course. I was trying to make a point about not having to cut a big tax check up front. Most people don't consider this. I've purchased 34 cars in my life, mostly new, and I've leased only one. Even though I rarely keep a car more than two years I have a psychological need to own. The one BMW I leased resulted in my having to ... Read More
