Windshield Issue ?
My 2011 Rav4 Limited has less than 500 miles - and a crack that runs from top edge to about three inches from the bottom, making a left and a right in its travels. I ask 2 Rav4 owner with smart keys and they have thesame problem. all cars are supposed to lock doors automatically once you start or shift gear from park to drive as protection for all drivers, but this Rav4 with smart keys does not automatically lock! if other cars can lock why not for Rav4? verdi942, Why it's illegal for an insurance carrier to sell GAP coverage in NY is a mystery to me. It just doesn't make any sense. I would press further. Where does it say that it's illegal? Perhaps it's illegal for particular carriers (e.g., direct underwriting companies) to sell GAP for some unknown reason but, for other's, it's perfectly legal. delta, here in New York, my insurance company refused to sell me gap insurance - they said it wasn't legal to so here; so Toyota, unlike every other company I've ever leased from, charges me about $7.00/mo for it.

tsalvo978, The $399 paid for GAP coverage is a rip-off and grossly excessive. As a rule of thumb, you can purchase GAP coverage from your insurance carrier for an annual premium of about 0.1% of the MSRP. In your case, this amounts to about $25 annually. The insurer simply adds a GAP rider to your automobile insurance policy. FYI- Toyota does a few things that other finance captives don't do... (1) ... Read More

hackd, If you live near Danvers, MA, Ira Toyota gave me a great deal on a rav4 lease yesterday.....MSRP $24,674, 36 mo, 12Kmi/yr, residual $15,661, for $199/mo pymt with only 1st pymt due at signing. This is the single worst lease deal I have ever seen....for a car dealer to even present this to someone should be a crime. I just leased a Rav 4 Limited for $335 per month with all taxes and fees included....no money down except for first payment. As someone stated above Gap insurance is $7 a month through Toyota.

Are you saying you gave the dealer $7205.79 plus 316.60/mo for this car? That's expensive. [FWIW, you DO need Gap Insurance, and Toyota charges me about $7.00/mo. for it on my lease of the same model car].

Personally I have been waiting for the 2011s after the many Toyota fiascos this last year. Tweaks are being made and I do like the idea of a Brake Override. All 2011s come standard with the Star Safety System which includes a combination of 5 accident avoidance features

Del Toyota in PA, RENOUNCE Platinum Warranty on Rav4.
On 8/23/2010 I took my Rav4 2004 to Del Toyota in PA for service for an antifreeze leak, underneath the engine. I heard Toyota will redesign 2011 RAV4, is that true? I know it comes out in Aug/Sept time frame, in that case I might just wait for 2011. Toyota is going no where. I am tickled they implemented brake override system for all models starting 2011, maybe even earlier. Their stats for UA will go way down. I am definitely planning to buy a new Rav4 Ltd. with the V6 engine. My timing is a little uncertain at this time but it might have to be sooner rather than later. Come on, it's a Toyota! It'll easily go 150k, so I say finance it for 5 yrs (or less, depending on your situation), then sell it for $5k. Replace belts/hoses/water pump at 100k, and keep receipts for resale purposes. I'm guessing these are highway miles, so new brakes/rotors every 55-60k.
