Have you examined them closely and driven them back to back? I guess the choice depends upon the buyer's tastes, how fussy they are about particular features and details and how important price is in the final decision. In my particular case (yours may vary), I wanted to get away from a dark interior and go to a lighter color. Not an option with the SHO. I don't care for firmed ... Read More
Have you seen or tried MyLincoln Touch on the 2011 MKX? It will be available on the MKS at some point. Despite some early glitches that were recently fixed with a software update it makes sync look like a 10 year old cellphone. I've also heard the new MKS is stunning along with all of the new Lincoln designs. Lincoln has just started their turnaround and the best is yet to ... Read More
Leasing 2011 MKS in white/ beige with 20" rims. Car looks great. My observations having not owned an American car in 12 years (owned Lexus's, Infiniti's and 1 Acura) on this car are: Its quiet and big. Trunk opening is very small for such a big trunk. Not enough leg room to stretch your left leg. Very good MPG If I did not know it was a Lincoln I would think ... Read More
Your review after 5 days is in close agreement with my observations after owning one for 15 months. I find the car to be very comfortable, solid, well put together and extremely quiet but rear seat room leg room is tight for such a large car. We also have a 2008 Taurus and you could live in it's back seat. I have gotten used to the paddle shifters and use them ... Read More
While our 2007 MKX crossover was at the dealer for a warranty repair we had a 2011 MKS base sedan to drive for five days over the New Year holiday weekend. We didn't put a lot of miles on the vehicle (it had 4,200 miles on the odometer), but did spend quite a bit of time scrutinizing it because we had been considering this model as a replacement for our current ... Now the news is that the MKT, like the Ford Flex, will be going away in 2013. No second iteration for either one of these relatively new efforts. Ford has had no luck lately with these people movers/minivans/CUV-like wagons. Neither the Freestar or Freestyle caught on. The Taurus X was no better sales-wise. The Flex has largely been a sales flop too. Not that any of these were/are not good vehicles, ... Read More
Where does Lincoln have that supposed cache in the world? Lincoln has been an also-ran for many years now, and the MKZ/MKS'MKT have done little to turn that around. Not that Lincoln couldn't, with a concerted effort. Look at what Hyundai did in a few short years. They went from Daewoo-style economy car mediocrity to building the Genesis, the Genesis coupe, the Equus and the 2011 Sonata, while renewing all the ... Read More
You can order a new MKS at any time. If you're asking specifically about a 2010 vs. a 2011 I don't think they've announced the job 1 dates for the 2011 yet or when they would go on sale. The "security approach" verbiage just means the puddle lamps illuminate as you approach the car so you can see if anyone is near the car. It's "marketing speak". As for rebates, "bonus ... Read More
Thanks Bruce and AKirby, wasn't that I didn't believe you A, I was just wondering why they are described on the lincoln web site as, security approach lamps. I know the MKS does not have the BLIS, don't know why, but I was just wondering about the decription and what it meant. I wonder if they will put it on the 2011's. When will the 2011 come out? anyone know? Gonna ... Read More
alman: "about the depreciation discussion which someone said he could buy a year old Ecoboost MKS for $20k, I highly doubt it."...I was one of those who made this comment, and, I think nvbanker (forgive me if I am wrong) agreed with me in the next few posts...if not nvbanker, then someone else... While I do not have exact numbers, I would still guess that Big 3 cars will depreciate like ... Read More
The Jag platform, just like dew98, is expensive. It can't use any of Ford's corporate V8s - they don't fit, which requires expensive engines no larger than 4.2L which are also owned by Jag. Nothing would be shared with other Ford brands. Where did you get 2015 for GRWD? I think it's 2012 worst case and more likely 3 years (2011). The MKS cost far less than the LS - 90% ... Read More
This just in... "Ford Motor Company is bringing rear-wheel drive development back to the U.S. from Australia. The automaker has green lighted a vehicle platform that will provide the basis for a new generation of rear-wheel-drive cars." Staffwriter Bryce Hoffman has reported today in the Detroit News. The story was confirmed by Ford Executive Derrick Kuzak, in charge of product development at Ford Motor. This balances the possibility that Alan R. ... Read More
Well I'm glad we're talking again. I don't see how you can include a car that's not on sale yet as filling a hole that's existed for 2 years, but I wont belabor the point. I will say that I like the exterior of the MK S enuf that when the MKS with AWD and the ecoboost engine FINALLY arrive (2010, 2011?) it MIGHT actually get a look from me. Though ... Read More
Time for the Grinch to toss his 2 cents in: 4 *NEW* models due by the end of THIS year to take on Cadillac, BMW and LEXUS??? - Well first, I thought Lincoln was supposed to compete with Buick? Have they changed direction AGAIN?? - Second, 4 NEW models?? Hoo Ha, what BS. They're talking about: the MKZ - is that NEW??? A bigger thirstier engine does not a NEW car ... Read More
And BTW, Rock, looks like u got a little more time to decide on the MKS as your next car: "Horbury said ... the brand's transformation will be complete when its new flagship, the MKS, goes into production in 2009." Going into production in 2009 means it's a 2010 model. And one thing I learned from my old man is "don't buy the first model year of a new car." So ... Read More
