Strangely enough I also traded in a 2002 Elantra GT for this inefficient 5 door 2011 forte EX. I'm very disappointed with my gas mileage at 4K - averaging 29-30.5 MPG driving highway 40 miles a day between 50-70mph. Car is already in the shop for some horrendous driver side wheel noises - already regretting this purchase.
Does anyone know how to find the radio ID (ESN or SID) on the 2011 Kia Forte radio? You need this ID to figure out which SiriusXM packages are available. I am considering extending the 3-month trial package ONLY if I am able to purchase the A La Carte package. The rest of the packages are not worth the monthly expense, in my opinion. Help please? Thanks!
I recently purchased a 2011 Kia Forte 5 Door to replace my 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT with over 185,000 miles. The highway mileage with my KIA FORTE 5 door with the 6 speed automatic is absolutely terrible! With over 4,000 miles on the best mileage I have gotten is 29.68 miles per gallon compared to a highway estimate of 36mpg. I achieved 29mpg after over 300 miles of highjway driving by ... Read More
congratulations on the new Kia Forte sedan. Pop some pics in here if possible so we can see it. Kia is ever-impressive when compared to the rest of the automakers. I put the Germans as the most expensive cars that are really over-hyped, over-priced and utterly not worth even talking about. But the South Koreans are the sharpest tacks out there if you take Mitsubishi of Japan out of the picture. ... Read More
I bought a 2011 Kia Forte 5-door with a 6-speed manual transmission to replace my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT (250,000 miles on it). On my first tank of gas (dealer filled tank before I left), I got 33.5 mpg. This consisted of about 10% stop-and-go city driving, 10% interstate highway cruising in rolling hills at about 75 mph, and 80% on back highways with lots of rolling hills (a few steep ... Read More
I have been driving my 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT for almost 10 years. I've racked up almost 250,000 miles on the most reliable car I have ever owned. I still have the original rear struts, water pump, thermostat, alternator, and MANY other parts. I did have to replace 3 of the 4 wheel bearings, but that was after 200,000 miles. And I am a bit of a spirited driver, too, so ... Read More
this was on Kia Motors announcement of their September Sales on Oct 1st The most aggressive new vehicle launch cycle in the auto industry will continue with the arrivals of the functional Forte 5-door later this month and the highly anticipated all-new 2011 Optima midsize sedan in November." Production on the 5-door started in late August.
Kia's pretty much using the newest Hyundai drivetrains now, so the reliability should be comparable, although they're assembled in separate plants. Curiously, the Forte has a more advanced 2.0L all-aluminum engine (156 bhp / 154 bhp PZEV) than the Elantra (138 bhp / 132 bhp PZEV). I also owned a 2001 Elantra GT, and stupidly traded it in for a 2006 Sonata V-6 5AT, and I've regretted it ever since, as ... Read More
just announced by Kia Motors worldwide: The Forte (Cerato) 5-door hatchback will be entering production in late August and will feature Kia's new 6-speed automatic as well as 6-speed manual transmissions as standard. Optional features not found on the current Forte (Cerato) sedan include paddle shifters and LED rear combination lamps. The 2011 MY Forte (Cerato) sedan will also adopt all of these new standard and optional features.
I'm getting the following deal... Kia Forte 2010 EX with Fuel Economy Package & Electrochromatic Mirror w/Compass MSRP: $18,470 Car Price: $17,300 (6% off MSRP) Rebates: $2,000 My car price: $15,200 OTD Price: $16,287 (6% tax) Can someone help and tell me if I should wait till Labor Day sale or wait a couple of months till the 2011 models come out?
I don't think Hyundais have the exact same 100K powertrain warranty as a Kia, but it's still good at very 5/60 bumper to bumper. I know the Elantra is going to be completely redesigned for the 2011 year and I hate buying cars that are going to restyled in a year or less. The new 2011 Sonata will be out in a month and gets EPA ratings 23 city, 35 mpg ... Read More
sorry, incorrect again. 2.0L is available with 4 spd auto, 2.4L is available with the 5 spd auto, makes no difference whether its the sedan or Koup. This is the same for both US and Canada. Maybe when they come out with the 2011 model they may switch to all 5 spds for the auto. I have a 4 spd auto with my 2.4L in my Rondo.
