I have a 2011 Santa Fe 4 cyl, and the owners manual says that when the ECO light is on we are "driving for economy". I've noticed that the only time the light of off is when the vehicle is in reverse, neutral, manual (or Sportronic..whatever Hyundai calls the manual shift mode), park, and idling at a traffic light for more than a few seconds. Even under hard acceleration (auto shifting ... Read More
I have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe 4-Cly. auto with 32000 kilometers on it and yesterday the transmission went...I'm waiting for Hyundai to replace the transmission now.
Hi joesao. Hyundai Finance's March buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2011 Santa Fe SE V6 FWD with 12,000 miles per year are .00154 and 56%, respectively. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum
I have a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, and in Jan 2011 my timing chain broke and I had to replace the engine. They place a 2005 engine in my car. I have had the my car back for a month and on my way home from work (with my 4year old in the car) the car started to accelerate! With my foot, I made sure the gas petal wasn't stuck, I ... Read More
Sirs / Madams... (must be 'Prim' and 'Proper' on this site you know... :P ) OH NO.... My 2011 Santa Fe Limited does leak at the sunroof when put through a 'high-pressure' Touchless carwash. No staining on the headliner as of yet though. Probably wont be either as the water drips into the slider track. This morning, after going through the Touchless wash, I noticed again that it was leaking. It ... Read More
For those of you following the sticky brake caliper thread, it's been moved. ecotrklvr, "Hyundai Santa Fe Brake Problems" #58, 18 Feb 2011 6:31 pm
My dealer said the he went to the Hyundai Tech Line and found out about it from another dealership. It's a network thatthey have similar to what we are doing in this discussion. Now that I'm aware of it, I don't have any issues about it. Just don't be a 2 footer.
bookinu2, Tried your suggestion with the brake and you are correct. The slightest pressure on the brake pedal will prevent the car from accelerating. So my next step is to show the dealer and see if he knows how to properly adjust the brakelight switch. I'm thinking that a red light forward of the dash coming on when pressing on the brake will help keep me off the brake pedal. Wonder ... Read More
I'll try your idea and see if it works for me. Do you know if your Hyundai dealer has instructions from Hyundai on brake light switch adjustment? My 2010 SF Limited was in the dealers shop for 3 days and after 85 miles of all kinds of different driving could not duplicate a throttle dead spot. Maybe your findings will solve the problem I have. I did notice that my mileage ... Read More
I had the same Dead Spot issue on my 2011 Santa Fe Limited V6. Here's the FIX. Since Toyota had the runaway accelerator problems, Hyundai built in a circuit on the brake light switch that will defeat the accelerator,(since it a cabless system), same as cancelling cruise control. If the brakelight switch has not been adjusted properly, any slight, and I mean slight motion on the brake pedal, will cause the ... Read More
Wow! Sounds like I'm not the only one with this new problem. In my option, I think this problem rates up there with the uncommanded acceleration issue Toyota had. This dead spot problem started right after the ECM computer update # TC7 10BA30R0 I had done Dec 1, 2010 and was supposed to be corrected with ECM update # 39110F3Y done on Jan 20, 2011. I had that update last week ... Read More
You are making a blanket statement about an entire line just because a small minority of people aren't getting the mpg they should. I have spokent to many Santa Fe owners and they are very pleased with the vehicle and the Mpg. I bought a 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6 and have been getting about 19 city/26 Hwy. It has about 7400 miles on it. I would say that if someone ... Read More
after my reman tranny was installed i had a similar situation where the same thing happen to me in an intersection where the light had change to yellow so i went to step on the gas and a dead spot just like u had. took it right to the dealer and of coarse could not duplicate it, was told it has to do with the ecs, tc, bdf systems. i told ... I have 8500 on the Sante Fe currently, problem free so far. They replaced the trans because the service rep was driving it when it hit hard into 2nd gear as I had been complaining about. I was lucky it happened for them. They tried blowing me off until then.
How many miles on your 2011 Santa Fe? Wait til you get 3 or 4 thousand miles. By the way the Santa Fe Limited only comes with a V6 and 6 speed transmission, not a 4 cyl. Why is the 2010 ECM update apply to the 2011 Santa Fe Limited, it's the same as the 2010 Limited. Why was your 2010 transmission replaced?
The dealer you spoke to was not up front with you. The problem is with 2010 Santa Fe Limited with the V6 and six speed transmission as you can see by the amount of treads on this site. On Jan 20th I had the latest and the greatest (per Hyundai) update done on my 2010 Santa Fe. Number is 39110F3Y ECM update. Which by the way is for both the 2010 ... Read More
2011 Sante Fes don't have trans issues as far as I know. they put a new trans in my 2010 and all is well now. They are good vehicles with an apparent bad run on some 2010's.
Been reading your posts on the Santa Fe and wondering ....is there anyone out there that has that model, purchased since the 2011's became available, that is having any trans problems. Cars look great and are great to drive! I sure hate to put near 30 grand in a car and have it flame out right away. Went to 3 different dealers in the Detroit metro area and they claim that ... I havn't heard anything bad about the 2011, from what the forums are saying it's only the 2010 santa fe. After talking to a hyundai sales rep these tranny and drive shaft problems are on the 2010 4cyl and 6cyl models so far. This engine and trany are both new to hyundai. best of luck!!!
gimmestdtranny, Thanks for the information. By the way 2011 Santa Fe Limited models are the same as 2010. 2012 is when the next change takes place. Maybe Hyundai will revert back to the 5 speed transmission for 2012.
Boy, you guys are scaring the hell out of me. I'm just about ready to sign for a 2011 6cyl AWD Limited. I've read that theres been some problems with the rear brake calibers but this tranny and drive shaft stuff is really worrying me. I know a few people with 09 Santa Fe's and they love them. Are these new ones really that bad? Please answer as soon as you ... Read More
This one is dated January 2011. It is titled: 11-AT-001, and appears to be a new ECM Update. As a reader of this Forum for a few months now, I crossed my fingers as I signed the deal a week ago today for a 2011 Santa Fe GLS 2.4. So far, 370 miles and no problems. The problems seem to be more prevalent with the 3.5L V6. Not posting to bring ... Read More
My 2010 santa fe was built on jan/28/2010, i've heard on this forum that the production date from oct/09 to jan/2010 are the ones having the most problems. i just got my car back on friday from having a remanufactored tranny installed, although it's not clunking now and shifting better than before, the down shifting is still a problem. i also now have a very noisey engine knock. i've read on ... Got my loaner today, 2011 Sonata... BEAUTIFUL! I think I want to keep it. They had my car all day and said that several people drove it and didn't feel what I am talking about. They hooked it up to the computer and said that there aren't any "errors" coming up. They are keeping it overnight to drive it in the morning to see if it is the cold weather. If ... Read More
In my case, i topped the tank and started for NH from NJ. I again had to top up the tank in 230 miles. had to fill in 13 gallons. So, this was pure 100% highway miles @ 70mph. No slow traffic. To me this is very discouraging. Can you please tell me the path to get Hyundai's attention? I would wait for another 2-3k miles before approaching them.
FYI, I was told the same thing by a dealer in San Diego but I now have a little over 25K miles and never saw any big improvement (I have a 2007 FWD Limited 3.3). I got so fed up that I opened a case w/ Hyundai and they arranged for the District Manager to look at the car. He measured the mileage on the highway (he actually did a pretty ... Read More
I bought my first new vehicle. 2011 Hyundai Santa FE AWD SE v6. Done 1500 miles so far. mpg are heartbreaking. Pure highway 230 miles = 13gallons = 17.6mpg. Speed 70mph. Temperature 32F. i called Hyundai Consumer Affairs. They told me that the extended 10year service warranty that i bought is NOT from Hyundai but from the dealer or some 3rd party. So, there is nothing that they can do about it if the dealer does not cancel on time OR gives me a hard time on this matter. Overall, it seems that Hyundai won't do anything to the dealer as after all they ... Read More
It's probably just changes in trim. More standard kit on the lower-end models perhaps? Hyundai USA has updated their webpage now, so you can get the full details as to what's changed, if anything. http://www.hyundaiusa.com/santa-fe/
Unfortunately for the consumer and Hyundai, this transmission problem varies. What I mean by this is it has ranged from being a PCM software issue, to being a valve body issue in the transmission. Personally, I haven't heard whether or not the AWD transmissions are part of this problem. So far in my experience, it has been the 6 speed transmission on V6 models. 2010 was the first model year to ... Read More
Sounds like relatively minor changes in trim levels for 2011, with a full redesign coming for 2012. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/kia-georgia-plant-starts-2011-hyundai-santa-fe- -production-25001.html "Compared to the 2010 version, the new Santa Fe comes equipped with six standard airbags, including side air curtain airbags, ABS with BA, EBD, ESC, three-point seatbelts and adjustable head restraints and Tire Pressure Monitoring System."
I would advise patience, for a couple more weeks anyway. I caught wind from a Hyundai rep that the 2011 Santa Fe will have some new lines. It will still be based on the same platform. But they are stamping out some new sheetmetal for it to bring the appearance more in line with the Tucson. The interior is supposed to be about the same as the 2010 as are the ... Read More

Well, as most already know, Hyundai moved the Santa Fe production from their Alabama plant to the new KIA plant in Georgia. And they started production of the 2011 Santa Fe on September 27th. I called the local Hyundai dealership and asked about the Santa Fe re-design. The Salesman told me that yes it will be a major change in the styling and be on the same chassis as the Sorento in the 2012 model release. The Sorento is a larger vehicle which would be great. Also it probably will offer the Panoramic sunroof. Now I have a very difficult decision. Put a deposit down ... Read More
Well, I went one of the local Hyundai dealers today. I am looking for a specific configuration on a new Santa Fe and inquired whether they could order one from Hyundai. I was wondering if there might be a radical styling change such as the changes made to the 2010 Tucson.
