I just received the recall notice. Talked to the Service Advisor at the dealer and he said its a pretty extensive repair on the engine--taking up to 4 hours min. although Honda tells dealers its a 2 hour "book" repair. Here is Honda's Official Statement: "Statement by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Regarding Lost Motion Spring Recall: 2009-2010 Fit TORRANCE, Calif. – February 16, 2011 – Honda will recall 97,201 model ... Just purchased yesterday. 2011 Fit Sport AT @ Stevens Creek Honda off their President's Day Sale Ad (they had a ton of fits, and even more that just rolled in this morning when I picked up my car) Price incl. What struck me with driving the Mazda 2 was that it simply needed another 15-20HP. That's why you get the manual. ;-) Or were you already driving the manual? I didn't find it to be wanting for power, provided you were willing to rev it when you wanted to go fast. These little cars are all that way, designed that way on purpose so that in normal driving you can get ... Read More
is here - I drove a Sport manual shift today - and the VSA is standard, just as promised. The Fit was really lagging on this one thing, as even the cheapest competing models have it now, so I'm glad they have finally made that standard. I have also decided that among Fiesta, Fit, Yaris, and Mazda2 the Fit is my choice. Now I'm wondering how much of a discount I ... Read More
the Honda Fit. Got the chance to test drive one today, and if what you value most is a driver's car (as opposed to looks or price) the Fit is head and shoulders above the rest. The first time I drove one was very soon after the present model came out, more than 2 years ago, and I had forgotten just how great this car is. Shifter? FABULOUS. Like a rifle ... Read More
You should also test drive the following vehicles with manual and tell us what you think: - Scion TC - Overlooked but a fine car. Handles very nicely, IMO. Back seat is small, though. These are very slow sellers(Scion never seemed to really have taken off?) so you can get good prices on them. - Mitsubishi Lancer - Also another often overlooked choice. I personally think they are better vehicles that ... Read More
Wefit, Thanks, your response was very helpful. I just drove home in a 2010 Fit Sport with the Nav system that had 13 miles. While I had no interest for the Nav system, I was getting the Fit for my wife, and wanted the traction control. Based on your numbers, I factored in an additional $1,750 for the Nav system, resulting in an OTD price of $19K, which following the wisdom ... Read More
Many automobile salesmen are completely clueless (not all of course)... It's quite easy to find one that doesn't know specifics about different models, current or future for that matter. My salesman- while very good didn't know much of anything on my 2011 CR-Z when I got it - but at that point it had only been at the dealer for 2-3 days. I had researched everything online- and actually showed him ... Read More
The nav package is no longer available with a manual transmission--that's all I know.
11-2-2010, The Honda salesman assumes there is no changes but couldn't say for sure. Huh? Aren't they supposed to know?
I have an offer from a dealership for a 2010 honda fit sport for $18,600 OTD with .9 percent financing. I live in Georgia. Is this a good deal? Should I wait for the 2011 with the VSA system? Will the 2011 be much higher and without the great interest rate?
I am not surprised that the dealer was poorly informed, to advise you that there were no handling equipment differences between the Base and Sport models - I had to dig very, very deep to find out the Sport actually includes an additional rear sway bar missing on the Base model. Consumer Guide has a good review of both the Base and Sport models. Their take is BOTH models handle significantly ... Read More
Thank you accordguy0325 for the posting, and hope you are enjoying your 2011 CRZ. I should add that I have always driven small cars (beginning with a 1963 bug...), so my issue is not one of any characteristic related to small cars. The problem, as I see it, is that the pedals are much too CLOSE, and too HIGH. A minor issue, but adding to the sense of being contorted, is ... Read More
In the time I spent with my 2010 Fit Sport (as I have since traded it for a 2011 CRZ due to styling preference) My Fit was flawless in every way - it was a fantastic little car that never ceases to amaze me in terms of its quality.
My Subaru just died, so I've been car shopping. I've been looking at the 2010 Honda Fit Sport, but was disappointed that I had to pay quite a bit extra for the Navigation-equipped model in order to get the Vehicle Stability Assist. Do you know when the 2011 Fit will be coming out? Although it's been quite difficult getting by without a car, I'm wondering if I'd be better off waiting ... Read More
The 2011 Honda Fit Sport trim receives standard Vehicle Stability Assist. VSA was previously available only on Navigation-equipped models. The National Highway Traffic Safety Agency is requiring that most cars include electronic stability control (ESC) by the year 2012. Honda's tradename for ESC is VSA. Adding VSA to the Fit helps Honda move closer to being in compliance with the NHTSA's ESC ruling. The 2011 Fit also receives floor mats as ... Read More
Hi all, my 2007 Honda Fit Sport has 111k miles and still going but I think I need to plan ahead and look into refreshing to the new gen Fit Sport. I checked out the 2010 Honda Fit Sport yesterday and found the new gen more substantial and definitely bigger. The only drawback that I found was the Sport audio is now down to 160w from 200w (anyone get a chance ... Read More
Volkswagen Polo wins European Car of the Year award Volkswagen's new Polo--slated to enter the U.S. market within three years--narrowly beat the Toyota iQ to win the 2010 European Car of the Year award. The Polo scored 347 points against 337 for the iQ city car. The new Opel Astra was No. 3 with 221 points followed by the Skoda Yeti (158 points); the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (155 points); the Peugeot 3008 ... Read More
Well...tell us more as the weeks and months pass. I probably would have gotten a '10 Fit if they had bothered to put stability control on it with the traction control that cleverly uses the ABS to lock up the wheel that is spinning if you are trying to drive out of an icey driveway (this is more sophisticated than the early traction control that merely drops the rpm to attempt ... VSA is required for all models by model year 2012, or calender year Sep 2011. Considering Honda is playing the same games with the Civic, I have a feeling VSA won't be standard across the board on all Fits until the MMC refresh, which would be model year 2012. I am in the same boat as you. I really want VSA, but on principal I refuse to pay for NAV when ... Read More
Yes, part of what I should be lamenting here is just how cheap American buyers are, and how low their standards are! The American buyer is only cheap when buying a cheap car. Put them in a mid sized or something other than an entry level sub compact and they option them out with wheels, sun roof, cruise control and navigation center. I do agree that factory upgraded wheels suck compared ... Read More
Release date: wikipedia says this "summer". Official Honda press release says "this fall". I hope it's no later than September. Otherwise I would have to buy another car - no, I don't want a Civic. I know it's a great car and I used to have one, but the whole reason I want a Fit rather than a Civic now (even if they are identically priced) is that I want Fit's ... Read More
@007 Hyndai Accent Hybrid is expected to get combined 44.5 mpg, compared to 35.5 mpg for the Fit. However, the Fit, at $13,000 + $550 destination 1.07(sales tax) = $14,500, now subtract $500 from haggling and add $150 or so for liscence and registration and you could drive out the door in a super reliable, good looking, utilitarian car, loaded with saftey features and pocessing AC and a decent sound system, ...
