A tip: the next time the engine light flashes, pull over and shut it down ASAP. If the light flashes, it usually means that you're doing more harm than good running the engine. As for the "lean" condition and the smell, I'd first double-check to be sure the first set of catalytic converters (attached to the headers) are not clogged. If they are, it's covered by a federal-mandated 8year/80K mile warranty on all emissions-related parts. There could also be an air leak, as you mentioned, but I'd have it looked at before driving it anywhere, just to be sure you don't cause anymore problems.
They also have a lot time of about 64 days. The truth is the ecoboost engines have put Ford comfortably in the lead... True. Ford just released that 50 percent of F-150s sold in April were V6s (either the 3.7L or the 3.5L EcoBoost), and the EB was 75% of those models. Ford has a gem with the EB V6. Not only does it offer V8 power and torque, but the fuel economy is outstanding for what it's capable of. And it's capable of a LOT. Check out the latest episode of "Test Drive" on Speed channel, where they REALLY work out the EB V6, and see for yourself. The GM pick-ups are good trucks in their own right, but until they get more fuel-efficient, they're going to continue to lose ground in this segment.
Oops, guess it's worse than they thought. Oops, guess you don't bother to read anything you post. If you did bother to read, you would've seen that the new recall is looking at the steering shaft itself to make sure it was installed correctly. It's quite different from the wheel coming off the column. It's funny, but there was only ONE documented case of the steering wheel coming off, as well as ONE case of the steering shaft. To me, it sounds like GM is actually being proactive and taking the time (and expense) to double-check the cars. IMO it's better than a company denying there was a problem, then lying to both their customers and the government about possible issues with their cars. *cough*Toyota*cough*
Just took delivery a week ago Friday and so far the experience has been nothing short of great. Got all the bells and whistles including Moon Roof and Nav. The car handles well, love the fit and finish. The seats are very comfortable and I can go a fair distance without filling the tank. I gave up my 2004 Trailblazer which I loved but the fuel consumption was killing me...maybe 20 on the road. While I miss it, I am in love now. Almost bought a Rav4 but was not able to stretch my legs out straight (I am 6' and about 250#). No problem in the Suby. So far so good, smooth sailing. Can't wait to see how well it does in Syracuse NY winters. Will report back more after a couple of months.
Click me! I'm frankly not surprised by the higher percentage of coupe models being V-series models, but 10% of wagons? Compared to 6% of Sedans?
